26.6 Us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>STN</strong> Express<br />

<strong>STN</strong> Express has two tools for analyses (from version 7.0):<br />

ANALYZE:<br />

Types of search<br />

To analyse one or two fields from an answer set<br />

To create diagrams<br />

ANALYZE PLUS:<br />

To analyse one or two fields from an answer set<br />

To group/edit the lists and save the results<br />

To create diagrams and an <strong>in</strong>teractive Excel matrix; display<strong>in</strong>g <strong>STN</strong> documents is possible<br />

To save tabular data (.TBN) for off-l<strong>in</strong>e or on-l<strong>in</strong>e process<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> order to create new diagrams (from<br />

version 8.0)<br />

An example us<strong>in</strong>g ANALYZE PLUS is shown here:<br />

Click on the L number (L1) to produce a menu where ANALYZE PLUS is selected. (There is also an option <strong>in</strong> the<br />

menu to save the search result for process<strong>in</strong>g with the <strong>STN</strong> Anavist software: Save for <strong>STN</strong> Anavist.)<br />

This calls the Analyze Plus Wizard (<strong>STN</strong> Express 8.0):<br />

Here you can choose between<br />

One field analysis<br />

Two field analysis<br />

For our example choose Two field analysis (a One field analysis example see the ). Further<br />

the fields to be analysed are selected. Some of these are shown <strong>in</strong> the w<strong>in</strong>dow; if the desired field is not shown here<br />

it can be added by click<strong>in</strong>g Options.<br />

Group similar terms should always be activated when the Patent Assignee is analysed; this will automatically group<br />

similar Patent Assignee names.<br />
