Caution: In CA/HCA/CAplus/HCAplus/ZCA/ZCAplus the charges for each SELECT are considerable (for fields from<br />

both patent or non-patent documents). Consider preferr<strong>in</strong>g ANALYZE.<br />

Note: To create patent statistics <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g graphical representations the ANALYZE PLUS function of <strong>STN</strong> Express is<br />

most useful.<br />

26.5 Display<strong>in</strong>g a results table TABULATE<br />

By us<strong>in</strong>g the TABULATE command the data from two fields of an ANALYZE result can be displayed <strong>in</strong> a tabular<br />

format (this goes also for an already edited result). This way it is possible to see e.g. a list of patent assignees and the<br />

number of their applications over time.<br />

When enter<strong>in</strong>g a TABULATE command it has to be specified whether the result is to be displayed <strong>in</strong> a tabular format<br />

or as a delimited list (for later process<strong>in</strong>g by a spreadsheet or presentation program, e.g. Excel). It is not possible to<br />

get both types of display by just one TABULATE command.<br />

Tabular format:<br />

Delimited format:<br />

=> TABULATE L2 PA PRY DELIMITED<br />

For the tabular format aga<strong>in</strong> there are two <strong>options</strong>:<br />

Default format<br />

GRID<br />

format displays a two-dimensional table, display<strong>in</strong>g the terms of the primary display code <strong>in</strong> rows and the terms of<br />

the secondary code <strong>in</strong> columns. The number of documents for each comb<strong>in</strong>ation of terms is displayed <strong>in</strong> the<br />

respective <strong>in</strong>tersection.<br />
