34.1.2.3 Difficult cases<br />

In this case the update field /ED (rather than /EDP) should be used. As <strong>in</strong> this case all subsequent<br />

In US publications of applications usually no assignee is given.<br />

The applicant and the title are often miss<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Japanese publications..<br />

If /EDP (or /EDPR) is used the same applies as above, i.e. all publications <strong>in</strong> the national publication<br />

sequence (and/or the patent family) are lost. /ED should be used.<br />

c) The example above is to <strong>in</strong>clude WO publications as completely as possible:<br />

IPC codes are miss<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> 7 % of all WO publications.<br />
