REQUEST FOR BOARD ACTION Agenda Item: 11-18_________ Subject Ordinance Reducing the Number of Members on the Sustainability Commission from 12 to 10 Action Requested: Approval of Ordinance Originated By: Sustainability Commission Referred To: Village President and Board of Trustees Summary of Background and Reason for Request The Sustainability Commission currently consists of 12 voting members and 3 non-voting members and has been meeting for the past year. Over the year, it has become increasingly difficult to obtain a quorum for meetings. One member of the Commission has indicated that he does not have the time to serve and asked Chair Wylie if he could resign. Another Commission member has not responded to staff’s phone calls and has not attended a meeting over the last year. Therefore, Chair Wylie is requesting that the number of Commission members be reduced from 12 to 10. Reducing the number of members will make it easier to obtain quorums and conduct Commission business. Chair Wylie and staff are requesting a waiver of the rules and approval of the ordinance as the next Commission meeting is on February 10 th and we are again having trouble obtaining a quorum. Chair Wylie and Jennifer Maltas will be available at the meeting for questions.
