volunteer parent board and they rent space from the Church. Christ United Methodist
Church, which owns the property, supports the proposed nursery school ground sign.
She explained that the nursery school is impacted by the current economic crunch and
they need a sign in order to attract new families.
Chairman Swartz said the Plan Commission received a letter from Mr. Jack Frigo
representing Deerfield Shopper’s Court, which is located across Rosemary Terrace
from the Church and nursery school. The letter indicates that Deerfield Shopper’s Court
is supportive of the proposed nursery school ground sign.
Commissioner Shayman noted that the petitioners clarified that they are a separate
entity from the Church and therefore he believes a separate ground sign is needed.
Otherwise he would suggest that the nursery school install a panel on the Church’s
existing ground sign.
Commissioner Nadler questioned what would happen to the sign if the nursery school
closes or relocates. Chairman Swartz said if the nursery school moves to another
location in Deerfield, they would need approval for a new sign; the sign does not travel
with the school.
Chairman Swartz then opened up the hearing for public comment. No one from the
public wished to comment.
There being no further discussion, motion to close the public hearing was made and
seconded.
