4.3 Powering Up the Unit<br />

4.3.1 Connecting to the Power Source<br />

NOTE: Information about the power supply is provided on “Power Supply” on<br />

page 5-10.<br />

A removable power cord is supplied with the unit, either:<br />

• 115VAC North American type, or<br />

• 240VAC European Schuko type (see Figure 4-2).<br />

To connect a UAC unit to its power source:<br />

1. Connect the female end of the factory supplied power cord to the AC power inlet,<br />

located at the rear of the <strong>SDM</strong>-<strong>8400</strong> chassis.<br />

2. Plug the male end of the power cable into an AC power outlet (100-240 VAC, 50/60<br />

Hz) with a protective earthing connection in good condition.<br />

NOTE: The unit will begin power-up and system check immediately.<br />

Warning: Do not remove the cover of the <strong>SDM</strong>-<strong>8400</strong>. The <strong>SDM</strong>-<strong>8400</strong> unit<br />

contains no user-serviceable parts. Only a qualified technician approved by<br />

Memotec is authorized to open the unit.<br />
