"1917'' or "You Can't Keep a Good Class Down" ("In Two Reels; Special Feature.") I was attracted by this alluring announcement, especially, the "1917;" so I entered the "home of the movies," in the expectation of meeting my old friend "Convict 999" under different numerals. Much was my surprise Avhen the "man behind the lantern'"' opened fire with the life of a "Freshman" First I saw the campus and a motley crew of "undergrads." Some seemed rather superior-looking with the usual air of "nonchalance." These I branded as upper-classmen. Then along marched more important looking individuals, though this same importance was evidently only skin-deep. I soon awoke to the fact that these were the long-suffering martyrs whose tortures I had come to witness. Up to the main entrance they sauntered, and came to earth with a little green book of "Freshman Rules" in their hands. The next appearance of the "Freshies" upon the screen found them embroiled in deadly combat. The "Sophmores" were upon them! "Stair-rush," I said to myself. Some scrappers, those "Freshies." It was pretty hard to keep the youngsters separate, until the arrival of the Freshman Badge. Verily, it was some badge! A little piece of cheesecloth with a flagrant yellow button. (They called them "Caps," but I have my doubts.) Again the fighting spirit. This time "they Avere out for gore" and they got Avhat they were after. In other words, it was "Flag-rush" time. Looked like a masquerade ball, Avhere most of the guests represented the Hobo Union. The "Varsity" infants were determined though not altogether at ease. The "Soph" barbarians formed a wedge and advanced upon their prey. I guess it must have been masquerade, for the way that page ninety-one
