All Work and existing facilities affected by cutting operations shall be restored<br />

with new materials, or with salvaged materials acceptable to District<br />

Representative, to obtain a finished installation with the strength, appearance,<br />

and functional capacity required. If necessary, entire surfaces shall be patched<br />

and refinished.<br />

16. HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AT SITE. No Hazardous<br />

Environmental Conditions at the Site in areas that will be affected by the Work<br />

are known to the District.<br />

16.01. Previously Unidentified Hazardous Environmental Conditions. If, during<br />

the progress of the Work, previously unidentified Hazardous Environmental<br />

Conditions are identified, Contractor shall stop work in the affected area and<br />

immediately notify the District and District Representative in accordance with the<br />

requirements in the General Conditions. At the District’s discretion, the District<br />

may instruct the Contractor to engage an abatement Subcontractor qualified to<br />

perform abatement of the suspected Hazardous Environmental Condition<br />

identified, to verify the materials and, if necessary, encapsulate, enclose, or<br />

remove and dispose of all ACM, Metal Bearing Protective Coatings, Paints, and<br />

Linings, Contaminated Environmental Media, and/or other Hazardous<br />

Substances in accordance with current regulations of the Environmental<br />

Protection Agency and the U. S. Department of Labor - Occupational Safety and<br />

Health Administration, the applicable state regulating agency, and any local<br />

government agency. Payment for such work will be made by Change Order.<br />

17. CLEANING UP. Contractor shall keep the premises free at all times<br />

from accumulations of waste materials and rubbish. Contractor shall provide<br />

adequate trash receptacles about the Site and shall promptly empty the<br />

containers when filled.<br />

<strong>Construction</strong> materials, such as concrete forms and scaffolding, shall be<br />

neatly stacked by Contractor when not in use. Contractor shall promptly remove<br />

splattered concrete, asphalt, oil, paint, corrosive liquids, and cleaning solutions<br />

from surfaces to prevent marring or other damage.<br />

Volatile wastes shall be properly stored in covered metal containers and removed<br />

daily.<br />

Wastes shall not be buried or burned on the Site or disposed of into storm drains,<br />

sanitary sewers, streams, or waterways. All wastes shall be removed from the<br />

Site and disposed of in a manner complying with local ordinances and antipollution<br />

laws.<br />
