6 Mensaje del Jefe de Pilotos JUNIO-JULIO <strong>2011</strong> BIENVENIDO A BORDO WELCOME ABOARD Estimado Pasajero, ¡Bienvenido a bordo! Ahora mismo que estás volando hacia alguno de nuestros excelentes destinos, es una buena oportunidad para platicarte cuál es el trabajo de los pilotos que en estos momentos tienen el enorme privilegio y satisfacción de llevarte a tu destino. Todos los vuelos comienzan con una junta con el departamento de operaciones donde los pilotos recibimos información esencial para el vuelo como condiciones meteorológicas de nuestro origen y destino, aeropuerto alternativo así como a lo largo de la ruta a diferentes altitudes para escoger la que mejor convenga para la eficiencia del vuelo y para tu mayor comodidad. También recibimos y acordamos el combustible para la ruta, que dicho sea de paso, debes saber que llevamos una importante reserva adicional para cualquier contingencia en nuestro destino o a lo largo de la ruta. También se nos informa cuánto pesará nuestro avión y cuántos pasajeros llevaremos. Posteriormente, la tripulación de pilotos y sobrecargos tenemos una plática que llamamos briefing, la cual es dirigida por el Capitán. En ella se revisan los puntos de seguridad, que es lo más importante para nosotros, encima de cualquier otra consideración. En la cabina de mando se comprueba el correcto funcionamiento de los diferentes sistemas del avión y se alimenta el plan de vuelo a la computadora central que llamamos FMC (Flight Management Computer). Esta computadora guiará el vuelo automatizado bajo la supervisión profesional de los pilotos. La revisión inicial nos lleva aproximadamente 20 minutos. Una vez listo el avión, y con nuestros pasajeros y papelería a bordo, comprobamos todos los ajustes que hicimos leyendo listas que, aunque nos sepamos de memoria, es obligatorio leer y contestar por seguridad. Posteriormente, solicitamos permiso a la torre de control, quien coordina u ordena los diferentes aviones que hacen fila para despegar, y nos dirigimos a la pista de despegue. Éste es un momento de enorme emoción y atención para los pilotos, y estamos preparados para cualquier eventualidad que pudiera existir cuando el avión, con sus 50 toneladas, acelera aproximadamente hasta unos 250 kms por hora, que es cuando se tiene la fuerza suficiente para producir el levantamiento de la aeronave. Durante el vuelo vamos checando nuestra ruta, el plan de vuelo y constantemente monitoreamos los sistemas del avión como combustible, temperaturas y presurización, entre muchos otros. Existen controladores de tránsito aéreo que observan por el radar a todas las aeronaves en ruta y evitan que nos encontremos unas con otras. Antes de descender, recabamos nuevamente la información meteorológica para conocer la velocidad del viento, temperatura, visibilidad, procedimiento y pista que usaremos. Con estos datos, les damos el anuncio a ustedes, nuestros valiosos pasajeros, que son nuestra razón de ser. El aterrizaje requiere de gran habilidad y experiencia de los pilotos, ya que interactuamos con elementos que no podemos ver, sólo “sentir”, como es el viento, la densidad del aire y, finamente, el reto de tocar la pista con ruedas que no vemos y que están ¡12 metros detrás de nosotros! Cuando nos detenemos en la plataforma, leemos la lista final mientras miramos por nuestra ventanilla cómo descienden decenas de pasajeros que viajan por negocios, placer, que van o regresan de casa. Es entonces cuando nosotros, los pilotos de VivaAerobus, sabemos que hemos cumplido cabalmente con nuestra principal y más valiosa tarea: haberte traído a casa o a tu lugar de descanso con total seguridad.
