5 Use Other Equipment With Your Flat Panel<br />

Although earlier sections have mentioned other equipment for playing back vi<strong>de</strong>o, this section provi<strong>de</strong>s control<br />

and operation information for specific types of equipment.<br />

5.1 Program the Remote Control to Operate Other Equipment<br />

To operate other equipment or <strong>de</strong>vices through your flat panel TV, program the panel’s remote control with the<br />

equipment’s manufacturing co<strong>de</strong>. A manufacturing co<strong>de</strong> is a series of numbers that i<strong>de</strong>ntify the type of <strong>de</strong>vice<br />

and the brand. These co<strong>de</strong>s are available in the section entitled “8.2 Manufacturer Co<strong>de</strong>s to Program into the<br />

Remote Control” in Appendix 8.2 of this manual.<br />

5.1.1 Assign a Manufacturing Co<strong>de</strong> to the Remote Control<br />

To assign a pres<strong>et</strong> Manufacturing co<strong>de</strong> to the panel’s remote control,<br />

follow the directions below. (For Manufacturing co<strong>de</strong>s, refer to “8.2<br />

Manufacturer Co<strong>de</strong>s to Program into the Remote Control”)<br />

1 ) Press SELECT to choose the <strong>de</strong>vice to program.<br />

2 ) Press EDIT and 1 at the same time.<br />

The selected mo<strong>de</strong> indicator flashes when the remote control is<br />

ready to be programmed.<br />

3 ) Use the number buttons to enter a manufacturer co<strong>de</strong>.<br />

When the indicator turns off, the co<strong>de</strong> has been programmed into<br />

the remote control.<br />

5.1.2 Issue a Library Search for a Manufacturer Co<strong>de</strong><br />

If the co<strong>de</strong> for a particular <strong>de</strong>vice is unknown, cycle through the available<br />

co<strong>de</strong>s for a similar unit then sample some functions for that co<strong>de</strong>.<br />

To find the co<strong>de</strong> that properly operates the unit, follow the steps below<br />

using different co<strong>de</strong>s to find the best match.<br />

1 ) Press SELECT to choose the <strong>de</strong>vice to program.<br />

2 ) Press EDIT and 3 at the same time.<br />

The selected mo<strong>de</strong> indicator flashes when the remote control is<br />

ready to search the co<strong>de</strong> library.<br />

3 ) Sample the co<strong>de</strong> using a SOURCE POWER, PLAY, 1 or CH+<br />

command.<br />

4 ) Use the up/down arrow (/) buttons to advance to the next co<strong>de</strong><br />

if the co<strong>de</strong> fails to control the <strong>de</strong>vice.<br />

Another option is to r<strong>et</strong>urn to the previous co<strong>de</strong> and repeat Step 3.<br />

5 ) Press ENTER to lock in the co<strong>de</strong> that properly operates the <strong>de</strong>vice.<br />

All the available buttons for the selected mo<strong>de</strong> are ad<strong>de</strong>d when the<br />

mo<strong>de</strong> indicator flashes on for one second. The remote control then<br />

r<strong>et</strong>urns to normal operation.<br />
