Au nom de la Fédération Équestre Internationale, je
suis enchanté de vous accueillir à l'Institut National
Équestre d'Avenches (IENA), en Suisse, pour le très
attendu Championnat d'Europe FEI de Concours
Complet 2021.
Nichée au milieu de collines vallonnées, entre les
lacs de Morat et de Neuchâtel, cette pittoresque
ville helvétique est une formidable toile de fond
pour cet important championnat qui n'a été attribué
qu'en mars de cette année, ayant été initialement
annulé suite au report des Jeux de Tokyo. Mais la
communauté de concours complet était catégorique,
ce championnat est indispensable… et nous voilà !
Être sélectionné et représenter sa nation est un
accomplissement énorme et le résultat d'un engagement,
d'un dévouement et d'un travail acharnés.
Pour les organisateurs et leurs partenaires, préparer
un événement de cette envergure dans un délai
aussi court est tout aussi extraordinaire, et je tiens
à les remercier, ainsi que la Fédération Suisse des
Sports Équestres (FSSE), pour leur initiative et leurs
efforts considérables, ajoutant une nouvelle page à
l'histoire d’Avenches et des sports équestres.
Je souhaite bonne chance à tous les athlètes,
leurs grooms, leurs familles et leur entourage. Aux
bénévoles, officiels et sponsors, j'adresse mes plus
sincères remerciements pour avoir investi dans
l'évolution continue de ce sport.
Enfin, à tous les fans, je souhaite un championnat
inoubliable !
Foreword by the FEI President
On behalf of the Fédération Équestre Internationale,
I am thrilled to welcome you to the National
Equestrian Institute of Avenches (IENA), Switzerland
for the highly anticipated FEI Eventing European
Championship 2021.
This picturesque Swiss town, nestled amidst the
gentle rolling hills between the Lakes of Morat
and Neuchâtel, is a tremendous backdrop for this
important Championship which was only allocated
in March of this year, having initially been cancelled
following the postponement of the Tokyo Games.
But the Eventing community was adamant it should
go ahead and here we are!
To be selected and to represent your nation is a
massive achievement and is the result of incredible
commitment, dedication and hard work. For the
Organisers and their partners, preparing an event
of this calibre in such a short time frame is just as
extraordinary, and I would like to thank them and
the Swiss Federation for their tremendous efforts,
adding a new page to the history of equestrian sport
and Avenches.
I wish all the athletes, their grooms, families and
entourage the best of luck! To the volunteers,
officials and sponsors, I send my heartfelt thanks for
investing in the continuous evolution of the sport. To
all the fans, I wish you a wonderful event!
