Ne ritroveremo infatti notizie anche più <strong>di</strong> mezzo secolo dopo: “Il vasto suo territorio [è]… doviziosamente coperto <strong>di</strong> gelsi, da cui per l’al<strong>le</strong>vamento del filugello, <strong>la</strong> seta greggia che se ne estrae forma <strong>la</strong> maggior ricchezza del paese somministrandone annualmente dal<strong>le</strong> 40 mil<strong>le</strong> al<strong>le</strong> 50 mil<strong>le</strong> libbre…” (A. GRANDI, Descrizione… cit.).

La De<strong>le</strong>gazione IV comprendeva paesi che potremmo definire <strong>di</strong> me<strong>di</strong>a <strong>di</strong>mensione quali Casalmorano (85 <strong>imprese</strong>),Azzanello (51), Barzaniga (49), Bordo<strong>la</strong>no (38),Acqua Longa Badona (29), Castelvisconti (24), Genivolta (19) e Mirabello (13) mentre <strong>la</strong> De<strong>le</strong>gazione V era caratterizzata dal<strong>la</strong> presenza dei due centri più importanti del<strong>la</strong> provincia <strong>di</strong> allora, ossia Soresina e Castel<strong>le</strong>one che <strong>conta</strong>vano, rispettivamente, 342 e 230 <strong>imprese</strong>. Seguivano altri centri notevolmente minori come S. Bassano con 78, Gombito con 40, Zanengo con 35, Corte Madama con 31, Grontorto con 31, Formigara con 27, Cappel<strong>la</strong> Cantone con S. Maria dei Sabbioni con 23, Oscasa<strong>le</strong> con 19, Corna<strong>le</strong>to con 21, Ca’ Nova Olzano con 6. Nel comparto figurava anche Vinzasa, località che però non abbiamo trovato citata nei registri camerali e che, dal<strong>la</strong> metà del XVIII secolo, risulterebbe comunque appartenere al<strong>la</strong> provincia <strong>di</strong> Lo<strong>di</strong>. La voce “Arti <strong>di</strong>verse” appare anche qui <strong>la</strong> più numerosa e gli iscritti si possono in gran parte ricondurre ad attività <strong>di</strong> carattere artigiana<strong>le</strong>, comprese alcune che potremmo meglio definire come ven<strong>di</strong>ta <strong>di</strong> ‘servizi’ (brentatori, osti, caffettieri, e simili). Sempre massiccia <strong>la</strong> presenza dei tessitori e dei sarti (rispettivamente 271 e 171 in tutto il Distretto) che totalizzavano il maggior numero <strong>di</strong> <strong>di</strong>pendenti, rispettivamente 59 e 57. Diffusa anche l’attività <strong>di</strong> “<strong>le</strong>gnamaro” (fa<strong>le</strong>gname) che <strong>conta</strong>va, nel Distretto, 106 <strong>imprese</strong> più due con attività miste e dava comp<strong>le</strong>ssivamente <strong>la</strong>voro a 38 <strong>di</strong>pendenti. Altri mestieri sembrano invece scarsamente rappresentati come, ad esempio, quello <strong>di</strong> brentatore (o trasportatore <strong>di</strong> vino) dei quali ne sono censiti 7 a Soresina, 1 solo (per <strong>di</strong> più a titolo <strong>di</strong> attività secondaria) a Castel<strong>le</strong>one e nessuno negli altri paesi. Ancora esclusivamente nei due grossi centri <strong>di</strong> Soresina e Castel<strong>le</strong>one troviamo censiti dei fornai e precisamente 5 unità in Soresina, 6 in Castel<strong>le</strong>one e nessuna nel<strong>le</strong> località minori. Evidentemente sul territorio, ancor più che in città, il pane veniva confezionato nel<strong>le</strong> case, certamente anche dotate <strong>di</strong> forni idonei al<strong>la</strong> cottura. 85
