Le diverse soluzioni di
attrezzamento macchina
In merito all’attrezzamento, sicuramente i costi sono a favore
Occorre
quindi evitare chiusure tradizionali a tre punti in quanto
Full Form broach takes at least 24 weeks, after
having previously defined the production rates.
The output quality
for each technology
Another aspect that should not be
underestimated is the output quality for each
technology. It should be pointed out that, if
you use a Fellows cutter, much depends on
the machine you use. When using a traditional
machine in good condition, achieving a DIN
8-9 class can be considered satisfactory.
Unfortunately, this quality level is obtained after
cutting the teeth, but it will further deteriorate
after the final heat treatment up to DIN 10
class, if not even more. This is not always
accepted by the customer, as it may affect the
gearbox good functioning and life.
The situation is different if the same piece is
manufactured using a PS machine. In this case,
it is possible to reach DIN 5-6 quality levels
without major problems, due to the possibility
of generating the teeth more times (up to 9).
This reduces the premature deterioration of the
cutting edge of the cutter and the surface state
of the tooth is better maintained at a Ra value
close to 0.6-0.8, while for the more traditional
Fellows cutter, and also broaching, the value
stands around 1.6-2.0 Ra.
In terms of quality, it should also be said that
with the PS technology it is possible to make
profile and/or helix modifications, a helix cone,
a different helix and profile crowning (even
on one side of the tooth), which can help the
designer solve some design problems.
In addition, the PS process, thanks to the CN,
enables both straight and helical internal
teeth without needing to purchase the helical
guide, which has a considerable cost. The
same applies to external teeth, both straight
and helical. The latter, however, will have to be
assessed case by case. In fact, because of the
inclined position of the cutter, any shoulder may
be a hindrance and preclude the use of this
technology (which is also the case with gear
hobbing).
The different machine
tooling solutions
With regard to tooling, the costs are surely in
favour of broaching. In fact, it is a matter of
providing a simple support or a container in
the case of ring gear with reduced sections
that may cause pressure roundness during
