IT “MT”, ovvero la sigla che denomina questi pezzi
progettati da Ron Arad, si pronuncia in lingua inglese “empty” vale
a dire “vuoto” e il vuoto è veramente l’elemento caratterizzante di
questo progetto. Il volume, realizzato attraverso uno stampaggio
rotazionale, viene infatti scavato e presenta provocatoriamente
il suo interno, finito in diversi colori. Questo è possibile
grazie ad un doppio passaggio nella produzione in plastica
rotazionale. In un primo momento viene immesso nello stampo
il polietilene del colore della scocca esterna. Una volta formatosi tale
strato, si procede ad inserire il secondo colore e a renderlo aderente
al primo senza che nel processo, che avviene in alti forni, si fondano i
due polimeri. Una volta estratto sarà un laser a cinque assi a tagliarne
le estremità laterali e a svelare il bicolore di MT. Dal punto di vista
tipologico inoltre va segnalata la presenza di una poltrona a dondolo,
rarissima nella contemporaneità.

by Ron Arad, in English is pronounced “empty” that means “vacuum”
and emptiness is really the key element of this project. The volume,
achieved through a rotational molding, in fact, is hollowed and
presents provoctively its interior, finished in different colours. This is
possible thanks to a double step in the rotational molding. First of all
the polyethylene of the outer shell color is placed in the mold. Once
formed this layer, the second color is inserted and adhere to the first
without merging the two polymers, even though this process takes
place in blast furnaces. Once extracted from the mold, a five-axis
laser will cut off the lateral ends of the product, revealing the twotone
side of the MT. From the typological point of view is also reported
the presence of a rocking chair, a rarity in the contemporary world.
