GIFT TOUR Gubbio (PG) that welcomes thousands of tourists in the historic villages of the province of Pesaro and Urbino, between the inland hills and the lively cities on the Adriatic coast. On Saturday 23, Candele a Candelara will be held, with markets, cribs and shows at Santa's Village and Workshop, with scheduled power cuts leaving the village lit only by candlelight twice a day. On 29 November we continue to Mombaroccio, with about forty typical wooden houses where you can indulge in gifts and the Chiostro dei Sapori offering local food and wine, from the end of the month, Christmas very (n)ice will be hosted in Pesaro, and in December Natale Più in Fano, with stands and events open up to the Epiphany. In Tuscany, the market and the castle of Santa Claus in Montepulciano (Siena) and the Tyrolean village in Arezzo are worth a visit. On the hills in the province of Siena, the lights will go on from Saturday 16, with over 80 Christmas shopping points between Via San Donato and Piazza Grande and loads of attractions for the whole family. A new feature this year is the Christmas Terrace, a place suspended in time overlooking the Temple of San Biagio and the Val d'Orcia, where you can sip the excellent local red wine in front of a breath-taking view, while the medieval fortress will be transformed into the Santa Claus’ castle, with more than two thousand square meters of decorated rooms full of surprises. In Arezzo, on the other hand, from 16 November to 26 December the largest Tyrolean market in Italy will be back, hosted in the beautiful Piazza Grande, with tasting huts, and typical Tirolese beers and cakes. In Taneto di Gattatico, about twenty kilometres from Reggio Emilia, there is the extensive Santa’s village by Mondo Verde Garden: 4,500 square meters set up with different settings and decorations each year, from 25 October until the Epiphany. Genoa is famous for its traditional nativity scenes: together with Naples (don’t miss the San Gregorio Armeno artisans’ road), it is one of the most active centres in the production of historicalartistic figures for nativity scenes. The Ligurian city also offers concerts of sacred, classical and baroque music, themed itineraries, Christmas markets and, from 26 December to 6 January, the Circumnavigando circus and theatre festival, which entertains the public over the holidays. Let’s not forget Gubbio (Perugia), from 23 November, with the famous event of the lighting of the world's largest tree on 7 December. Visitors will be delighted by the North Pole wheel, the frozen lake, the life-size nativity scene and the living nativity scene, the Gubbio Express Christmas train and the Christmas <strong>La</strong>nd guided tour programme. At Sutri (Viterbo) this year, from Saturday 23 rd , there is the Caffeina Christmas Village usually set up in Viterbo, a fascinating world of fantasy with the homes of Santa Claus and the Befana witch, and the caves of the elves. To the south, Christmas among the trulli of Alberobello (Bari) is unmissable, held from 7 December with markets, street artists and scenic lights. There are so many initiatives up and down the country, it would be impossible to list them all - every city, town and village has a surprise in store for Advent. 70
