Leganti Bituminosi
Programmato per rigenerare
FOCUS SU RIGENERVAL DI VALLI ZABBAN, IL LEGANTE CHE
CONSENTE DI RECUPERARE IMPORTANTI QUANTITÀ DI FRESATO
CONFERENDO AI NUOVI MIX ELEVATE PRESTAZIONI CHE HANNO
STUPITO ANCHE MOLTE IMPRESE STRADALI.
fresato - spiega a leStrade Enrico Petelio, direttore commerciale
in laboratorio e test su vari campi prove. I risultati, già
applicazioni in ambito autostradale dove i CB contenenti
Rigenerval sono risultati perfettamente rispondenti ai
L’Azienda / The Company
(Firenze) e poli produttivi e laboratoriali
a Bologna, Trecastelli (Ancona) e Arezzo.
VALLI ZABBAN is a historical reality of our
sector founded in 1928, the same year as
Anas. Its activity is divided into three specific
divisions: Road Technologies, Waterproofing
Wystems and Rubber Technologies.
Since 2004 VZ belongs to Tonon
Group, which since Spring 2019 has entrusted
it to the new CEO Andrea Lazzarotto,
with the aim of making the most of its
already top-level potential. It is based in
Calenzano (Florence) with production and
laboratory sites in Bologna, Trecastelli (AN)
and Arezzo.
impianto interno dove poter realizzare e testare mix bituminosi,
altamente performanti. “Ci siamo prefissi degli obiettivi
prestazionali - aggiunge Paolini - e abbiamo lavorato duramente
per raggiungerli, mettendo in campo esperienza
e testing.
e molto viscoso”. Bitume
nuovo di apporto e bitume
contenuto nel fresato convolano
così a nozze, senza
intermediazioni. Il secondo
trova nuova vita e grandi
forze grazie alle virtù del
primo, un legante costruito
per ricostruire, progettato
per rigenerare. Testimone,
la strada: chi la crea e
chi la impiega. Rispettando
l’ambiente e producendo sicurezza
e durabilità. nn
Designed to regenerate
FOCUS ON VALLI ZABBAN’S RIGENERVAL, THE BINDER ALLOWING TO RECOVER SUBSTANTIAL
QUANTITIES OF RAP BY GIVING THE NEW MIXES HIGH PERFORMANCES THAT ALSO AMAZED MANY ROAD COMPANIES.
New life to RAP, new life to an ideal solution to regenerate it
inside the bituminous conglomerates. We are talking about
Rigenerval, a special bituminous binder from Valli Zabban that
the more it is used, the more it is appreciated by the companies
working in the production and laying of asphalt on our
roads and highways. Rigenerval is a product that well exemplifies
the VZ approach in the field of road technologies, which
starts from R&D and aims straight at quality and performance,
passing through environmental sustainability, as also highlighted
last November during the presentation of the brand restyling.
In this case, form and substance are welded together,
bringing a new bitumen into the plant and onto the road that
Gli Innovatori
perfectly bonds with the “old” RAP one, because it is designed
to do right that. “We worked hard on the interaction between
Rigenerval and the exhausted bitumen contained in RAP – as
explained to leStrade by Enrico Petelio, Commercial Director
of VZ Road Div. - not using any additives but working directly
on the chemical composition of the new binder, perfected with
deep laboratory investigations and tests on the various test
fields. The results, already considered good by us, were even
excellent, if not surprising, for many companies, as evidenced
by recent applications in the motorway sector where the asphalt
containing Rigenerval came out to perfectly meet the
strict indirect traction values required by he specifications “.
Massimo Paolini, Technical Director of VZ, gets to the heart of
innovation: “starting from the Rigenerval base we have succeeded
in formulating a new modified PmB bitumen to produce
conglomerates with high RAP percentages with similar if not
higher characteristics than a virgin one.”
Everything starts from a precise choice by Valli Zabban: to aim
with determination at quality and performance, which can be
achieved starting from research. “We worked with new generation
tools such as DSR and BBR to analyze the rheology of the
new binder obtained by mixing Rigenerval with the bitumen contained
in the RAP, in order to ensure at the same time a good resistance
to cracking at low temperatures and resistance to permanent
deformations at high ones. The support of the asphalt
laboratory, both internal and mobile was fundamental to the development
of the Rigenerval was as well as an internal plant
where it can be possible to design and test bituminous mixes, as
to understand how to modify the binder according to the obtained
results”. So, here is Rigenerval, a range of bitumens that
can integrate perfectly with the RAP bitumen, giving birth to a
new binder with high performance characteristics. “We have set
ourselves some performance targets - adds Paolini - and we have
worked hard to achieve them, using experience and testing. The
result was a range of PmBs formulated with newly developed
SBS polymers, ideal for integrating the lacking polymer matrix in
the RAP bitumen, and a catalyst to convey and speed up the integration
between the two components: added binder and RAP
bitumen, rich in asphaltenes and very viscous”. Added new bitumen
and RAP bitumen thus merge, without intermediaries. The
latter finds new life and great strength thanks to the virtues of the
former, a binder built to rebuild, designed to regenerate. Witness
is the road: who creates it and who uses it. Respecting the environment
and providing safety and durability. nn
