Uitkomsten van chirurgie ten opzichten van medicamenteuze behandelingUitkomsten van FESSIn een review van Smith (2005) zijn 45 artikelen geïncludeerd. De vraag in deze review was:verbetert FESS de symptomen en/of de kwaliteit van leven bij volwassenen met CRS, dieonvoldoende reageren op medicamenteuze behandeling. De studies in de review betroffenvooral niet-vergelijkend onderzoek, deels retrospectief en deels prospectief (level C). Eénartikel heeft level B-evidence (Glicklich 1997). Deze studies geven aanwijzingen voorverbetering van de symptomen na FESS.Ten aanzien van de verbetering van de diverse symptomen van CRS na FESS blijkt datneusobstructie het meest verbetert. Reukstoornis lijkt minder goed te verbeteren bijpatiënten met poliepen dan de andere klachten.
