Uppsats Carl-Johan Freed Från Jesus till Muhammed - Ett nytt Sverige

Abstract
This thesis is a qualitative study in which I compare relevant literature and contemporary research
with four informants whom I have interviewed in order to get into their specific lifeworlds. I am
searching for motives behind their conversion to Islam in 21 st century Sweden, in regard to
specific theological motives. I am especially interested in finding out whether there is an explicit
conflict with Christianity and the Christian worldview. Therefore, this thesis reveals various
motives that might be significant among converts. But it also discusses specific theological
motives that I find among the informants. My conclusion is that sometimes these differences
divide the conception of Islam and Christianity but more often work as a mutual platform of
dialogue and understanding – especially towards the personhood of Jesus – in the present
Swedish context.
