MSC develops a regional hub for container handling at Khalifa Port<br />
Abu Dhabi Ports signed a 30 year<br />
concession agreement with (MSC)<br />
Mediterranean Shipping Company, a<br />
Swiss-based leader in global transportation<br />
and logistics, to establish<br />
a new container terminal in the UAE<br />
located at Khalifa Port. The new terminal<br />
will benefit from Khalifa Port’s<br />
unique advantages as one of the region's<br />
most technologically-advanced<br />
ports and one of the world's fastest<br />
growing ports, further showcasing<br />
Abu Dhabi’s importance in the maritime<br />
sector and in container handling<br />
regionally and globally. His Excellency<br />
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister<br />
of State and Chairman of Abu<br />
Dhabi Ports, witnessed the signings,<br />
alongside a number of high-ranking<br />
officials. Captain Mohamed Juma Al<br />
Shamisi, Chief Executive Officer at<br />
Abu Dhabi Ports and Diego Aponte,<br />
President and CEO of MSC Group,<br />
were signatories for both agreements.<br />
MSC will invest a total of Dh4 billion<br />
over the life of a concession<br />
agreement in operational equipment,<br />
including increasing the current 12<br />
ship-to-shore cranes to make a total<br />
of 25 of some of the most technologically<br />
advanced cranes in the<br />
world, over the next two years.<br />

وقعّ ت موائن أبوظبي اتفاقية امتياز استراتيجية لمدة 30<br />
عاماً مع شركة "إم إس سي" العالمية، إحدى أكبر شركات<br />
الشحن البحري العالمية التي تتخذ مقرها يف سويسرا، والتي<br />
ستقوم بموجب االتفاقية بتأسيس مركز استراتيجي لمناولة<br />
الحاويات يف ميناء خليفة، مستفيدة من مزاياه كواحد من<br />
أكثر موائن المنطقة تطوراً يف الجانب التكنولوجي وأحد أسرع<br />
الموائن العالمية نمواً، وذلك يف خطوة تلقي الضوء على األهمية<br />
المتزايدة إلمارة أبوظبي يف مجال التجارة البحرية ومناولة<br />
الحاويات إقليمياً وعالمياً. وشهد معايل الدكتور سلطان أحمد<br />
الجابر، وزير دولة، رئيس مجلس إدارة موائن أبوظبي، إضافة إىل<br />
العديد من المسؤولين، وقام الكابتن محمد جمعة الشامسي،<br />
الرئيس التنفيذي لموائن أبوظبي، ودييجو أبونتي، الرئيس<br />
والرئيس التنفيذي لشركة "إم إس سي" بتوقيع اتفاقية االمتياز.<br />
وأكد الكابتن محمد جمعة الشامسي، الرئيس التنفيذي<br />
لموائن أبوظبي أن ميناء خليفة يلعب دوراً حيوياً يف استراتيجية<br />
"موائن أبوظبي" الرامية إىل تعزيز مكانة أبوظبي واإلمارات<br />
االقتصادية والتجارية إقليمياً وعالمياً. وأشار إىل أن شركة "إم<br />
إس سي" تعتزم استثمار 4 مليارات درهم طيلة فترة اتفاقية<br />
االمتياز.
