Lech was recently named
new president of the ‘First
austrian Sommelier Club”.
The club, which was
founded in 1982 at the
arlberg and which counts
19 hotels and restaurants
in all of austria amongst
its members, has the aim to
promote sophisticated wine
culture. For guests this
means professional advice
and top service by sommeliers,
for hosts it means
competent purchase, perfect
storage and handling of

Half a marathon, full effort
on august 17, when the
‘Lecher Höhenhalbmarathon’
(Lech’s altitude Half
Marathon) takes place for
the 11th time, the hiking
routes all around Lech
will belong to endurance
runners once more. and for
those who find the 21.7 km
long route over 1,000
altitude metres a little
too tiring, the Raiffaisen-
Fitnessrun with its 13 km
should be most enjoyable.
An athletic way to cross
the ‘Ländle’
With 1.2 km of swimming,
102 km of cycling
and 12 km of running, the
legendary Trans Vorarlberg
Triathlon is quite a
challenge. on 25 august
athletes can once more take
part in this perfectly organized
event with its exciting
finish at sport.park.lech.
Run across the alps
With more than 250 km
of distance and 15,000
altitude metres, the GoRe-
TeX ® Transalpine Run,
one of the toughest stage
races in the world, requires
its 500 participants to give
everything they have. and
on 1 September, on their
way from oberstdorf into
Switzerland one stage of the
race will take the incredible
runners to Lech.
Friends of traditional music!
Between august 3 and 6,
Lech hosts the musicians’
days. Traditional bands,
singers and dancers from
austria and its neighbouring
countries will
transform Lech into one
huge concert stage!
Harmonious Berfhof Lech
The successful series ‚Lieder
am Berghof ’ (‘Songs at
Berghof ’) which will
already take place for the
6th time this year, presents
another highlight on 5
august: Spanish mezzo
soprano Maite Beaumont
will recite famous songs
and arias from Bizet,
Mozart, Richard Strauss
and Moreno Torroba!
Picturesque Arlberg
The two events ‘Malen
am arlberg’ (painting at
the arlberg, 13–20 July)
and the 20th ‘Lecher
Malwoche’(Lech’s painting
week, 14–20 July) require
you to pack your brush and
creativity! The summer in
Lech Zürs will provide the
necessary inspiration.
