“Hey, old rock’n’roller,
you’re doing really
well! ”
34
engl. ⁄ peter Kraus is a phenomenon. He looks
incredibly young and in shape, he still amazes
crowds as a singer, actor and entertainer and has
been influencing the German-speaking entertainment
world for five decades! Why he prefers old
cars, why he understands today’s youth and why
he’s glad to be born in 1939 is what this great fan
of Lech tells us in his interview with La Loupe!
L.L. ⁄ You managed the balancing act between wild rock’n’roll star
and the image of a nice son-in-law without any problems. Does
a rock’n’roll attitude towards life have anything to do with one’s
outward appearance?
P.K. ⁄ Well, the image of rock’n’rollers throwing TVs out of hotel
windows while drinking, smoking weed and behaving badly is
something of an old cliché. I always perceived rock’n’roll as a possibility
parents into perceiving me as a charming son-in-law. Fortunately
I was better at that than at throwing TVs!
L.L. ⁄ What with you being a former teen-idol, do you feel you
understand today’s youth?
P.K. ⁄ Yes, because I remain in contact with them. I just finished
a movie where there were only young people around me. It’ll probably
come out in June and its title will most likely be ‘Wenn Inge
tanzt’ (‘When Inge is dancing’). The work, the conversations with
the young people, it was all very interesting. What does worry me
though, is how dependent young people are on their cell phones. up
until now it kind of replaced their mouths, now it seems as though
it’s going to replace their brains soon. That’s where rock’n’roll
would certainly be helpful!
L.L. ⁄ You are a passionate fan of classic cars. What is it that these
old vehicles have and new ones lack?
P.K. ⁄ Individuality. The new ones all look alike, they can do
