engl. ⁄ That’s an equation that always works out: from
26 to 28 July 2013, guests and locals, laymen and
experts, audience and musicians of traditional brass
music will once more celebrate a special event. after
three years in neighbouring communities, the 63rd
arlberger Musikfest will once again take place in Lech.
at the end of July, when more than 1,500 musicians use
their instruments to shroud Lech into a harmonious veil
of sound, the entire place will once more be on its feet
and venture onto the dance floor. people are especially
excited because they will be able to enjoy the arlberg’s
legendary Musikfest ‘at home’ once more. each year
it is hosted by another one of the four founding towns
Lech, St. anton, Klösterle and Wald. In 2013, Lech will
provide the venue for the Musikfest for the 16th time and
it will be the Musikfest’s 63rd edition.
A traditional gathering
There is a special bond between Lech and the great
gathering of musicians that has been taking place
regularly since the middle of the last century. after all
the traditional event was initiated by a very dedicated
person from Lech: in 1951, the first celebration took
place on Rüfikopfplatz after Mayor Johann Schneider,
the then president of the traditional band, had fathered
it. The neighbouring communities’ bands were invited
to organise an annual musical gathering in one of the
towns on a rotating basis from then on. ever since then
– and without interruption – the great common event of
music making and celebration has been a fixed point in
the calendars of numerous locals and guests alike.
