Als Ergänzung der umfangreichen Literatur zum Werk von Thomas Demand<br />
wird anhand von zwei markanten, komplexen Arbeiten – „Presidency“, 2008<br />
und „Embassy“, 2007 – seine Arbeitsweise erläutert. Erstmals wird der Entstehungsprozeß<br />
dieser Werke Schritt für Schritt in Abbildungen dokumentiert.<br />
Scheint es sich bei den Aufnahmen zunächst um real existierende Orte zu<br />
handeln, erweisen sie sich auf den zweiten Blick als geschickte Rekonstruktionen<br />
der Wirklichkeit. Ausgehend von photographischen Vorlagen aus der<br />
Welt der Medien baut der Künstler detailgenaue, lebensgroße Modelle, die er<br />
abphotographiert und anschließend wieder zerstört. Hinter seinen Werken –<br />
die ursprünglich auf einem bildhauerischen Konzept beruhen – steht ein extrem<br />
