wie seine ‘Lectures on diseases of the heart’ (1845), welche zusammen auf einem kleinen Raume
nach Inhalt und Form gleich hervorragend sind“ (Hirsch). – „Latham’s lectures were highly regarded
by contemporary writers, and his Harveian Oration (1839) was praised by Sir Thomas Watson
for its elegant latinity. His lectures on angina pectoris are especially interesting and include the
post-mortem on Arnold of Rugby who died in his first attack and had only one coronary artery.
Latham was physician to the Middlesex Hospital, 1815–1824, and later to St. Bartholomew’s
