Prof. Dr. Christopher Jahns wurde an den neu geschaffenen Stiftungslehrstuhl für Einkauf,
Logistik und Supply Chain Management an der ebs berufen.
Das Department of Logistics & Business Engineering vereint die Lehrstühle
für ABWL und Industrielles Management, für Einkauf, Logistik und Supply
Chain Management und für Wirtschaftsinformatik sowie den KfW-
Stiftungslehrstuhl für Entrepreneurship. Ziel des Departments ist es, durch
intensive Vernetzung der Kernkompetenzen der einzelnen Lehrstühle
Synergien von Forschung und Lehre zu realisieren. Haupttätigkeitsfelder sind
die angewandte Forschung und Lehre im Bereich der Logistik und auf dem
Gebiet der ingenieurbezogenen, methodisch fundierten Verknüpfung von
Strategieentwicklung, Prozessmodellierung und System/IT- Entwicklung.
Außerdem werden in diesem Rahmen Fragestellungen des Gründungsmanagements
behandelt. Wichtige Impulse erhält das Department insbesondere
durch den intensiven Dialog mit der Praxis.

Mit Wirkung zum Jahresbeginn 2004 wurde Prof. Dr. Christopher Jahns an
den neu geschaffenen SVI-Stiftungslehrstuhl für Einkauf, Logistik und Supply
Chain Management der ebs berufen. Mit der Schaffung des Lehrstuhls
positioniert die ebs als eine der ersten Universitäten in Deutschland Einkauf,
Logistik und Supply als zusammenhängende Managementaufgabe. Das
Supply Management Institute SMI mit Prof. Jahns als Executive Director an
der Spitze hat sich als Ziel den Aufbau und das Training von Management-
Expertise in den Disziplinen Einkauf, Supply Management und Logistik sowie
die Entwicklung von spezialisierten Benchmarking- und Best-Practice-
Programmen mit und für nationale und internationale Unternehmen gesetzt.
Als Mitglied eines globalen Netzwerks strebt das Institut eine Spitzenposition
in der Forschung, der universitären Erstausbildung und im professionellen
Management-Training in Einkauf & Supply Management sowie Logistik &
Supply Chain Management an. Es gliedert sich in die vier Bereiche Research
& Benchmarking, Education & Exchange, Training & Diploma sowie
Community & Congresses.

Prof. Dr. Christopher Jahns has been appointed to the newly created Endowed Chair
of Purchasing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management at ebs.
The Department of Logistics & Business Engineering brings together the chairs of
General Business Administration and Industrial Management, Purchasing, Logistics
and Supply Chain Management and Information Systems as well as the KfW
Endowed Chair of Entrepreneurship. The department’s aim is to achieve research
and teaching synergies through the intensive interlinking of the individual chairs’
core skills. The department’s main areas of activity are applied research and
teaching in the area of logistics and the engineer-related, methodically based linked
fields of strategy development, process modelling and systems/IT development. It
also deals with issues relating to start-up management. An intensive dialogue is
maintained with practice, giving the department an important impetus.

Prof. Dr. Christopher Jahns has been appointed to the newly established SVI
Endowed Chair for Purchasing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management at ebs.
With the creation of this chair, ebs is positioning itself as one of the first business
schools in Germany to recognise purchasing, logistics and supply as a unified area
of management responsibility. The Supply Management Institute (SMI) led by Prof.
Jahns (Executive Director) has set itself the goal of developing and training
management expertise in the disciplines of purchasing, supply management and
logistics as well as the development of specialised benchmarking and best practice
programmes with and for national and international companies.
As member of a global network, the institute strives to achieve a leading position in
research, first degree-level education and professional management training in
purchasing & supply management as well as logistics & supply chain management.
It is divided into four subject areas: research & benchmarking, education &
exchange, training & diploma and community & congresses.
