ers of national aclaim, Antonín Procházka, his wifeand graphic artist and illustrator Karel Svolinský. Yetanother wave of younger talent joined ranks with theSOV also as pedagogues: A. Beran, K. Homola, A.Kučera aswell as those who firstly came to the organisationas guests including Václav Horský, StanislavMenšík, Jaroslav Pacák to name but a few. Furtherpainters to grace the SOV’s exhibition spaces with theirwork included Aljo Beran with his creations fromthe Bretagne region during the mid 30’s and LudmilaHoráková’s figurative compositions poetically displayedin oils from her home region. František Homola’senergetic interior creation later moving on to Litovelregion landscapes with further co-artists worth mentioningincluding, Alois Kučera, Bohumír Dvorskýand Jos. Gabriel just to name but a few.Litovel native Al. Kučera displayed his work both athome and in Olomouc spanning over 20 years beforejoining the Ostrava’s fine artist union of Moravia(later named MSVU). From 1938 the artist was stillactive in the art world teaching at both high schooland institute of higher education. During the 20’s theartist was asked for his opinion with regards to thearts in connection with his worldly views stemmingfrom Wolkerovsky poetry, initially accentuated socialtunes and later distant national ballads (P. Zatloukal).Around the mid 1930’s the painter built on his cubisticapproaches to his work forming cooler figurative piecesfeaturing more lineal contures. His imaginationand eventual more humanistic accents were neverthelessnot devoid of a driving surrealistic undertone.Coinciding with the break of World War II, Kučerawas focusing more on landscape painting breakingborders with regards to audiences from various genresdisplaying clever expressive undertones withcolour chords. The 1950’s however was a time of politicalbarriers preventing the artist’s true expressionwhere few works celebrated his cubist inspired sorcesof energy.Bohumír Dvorský however, member of MSVU from1926, was acclaimed to be the fastest rising painter inthe Czechlands during this time joining forces withthe SOV in 1935 and living in Olomouc following thecountry’s annexation. Already under the academicleadership of Otakar Nejedlý, the artist was makingwaves continuing the legacy of Mařák.Getting on to Dvorský, the artist contributed greatlyto the creative energy of Prague’s Mánes gallery andestablishment whilst being a member of their team,joining comparisons with Ostrava’s scene with fine,scarlatinal paintings from a number of artists andgenres for those times. Vladimíra Kristina was partof this interactive scene as was the artist BohumírDvorský between the years 1931 to 1933 with hisKRAJINA V TVORBĚ UMĚLCŮ OLOMOUCKÉHO KR AJE 21
