The era of coal mining in the district of Saarlouis
has ended. In 2012 the last mining location of the Saarland
region closed: the Duhamel mine in Ensdorf. Since
then the area in a size of 140 hectares is being used as
a location for renewable energies – and a gigantic steel
sculpture, the “Saarpolygon“, at the top of the mine heap
will be a reminiscent of the history of mining. The district
now concentrates its efforts on climate protection.
It had a climate protection concept worked out which
aims at a considerable reduction of CO 2
emissions. Various
measures are now under development. In Überherrn
near Linslerhof the largest photovoltaics system in the
Saarland region has already been installed.
L’ère de l’industrie houillère de la région de Saarlouis
a pris fin. En 2012, le dernier site d’extraction sarrois
a fermé ses portes: l’exploitation Duhamel à Ensdorf.
Depuis, les 140 hectares de superficie sont devenus un
site pour les énergies renouvelables – et une sculpture
gigantesque en acier – le Saarpolygon – située au somment
du terril, rappellera l’histoire houillère. La région mise
pleinement sur la protection du climat. Un concept de protection
climatique a été conçu dont le but est de réduire
considérablement les émissions de CO 2
. Désormais,
diverses mesures sont en développement. A Uberherrn,
près de la ferme Linslerhof, l‘installation photovoltaïque la
plus grande en Saar a été mise en service.
