POWER TO THE CONSUMERS!<br />
According to a study by the German Federal<br />
Environment Agency, 18 percent of those<br />
questioned believe that the federal government<br />
is not doing enough to protect the environment<br />
and the climate. But what about<br />
our private lives? We ourselves can partially<br />
reduce almost everything that causes<br />
emissions and pollution: Aviation and car<br />
miles, packaging of all kinds, meat and milk<br />
consumption, heating energy, paper, printer<br />
ink and clothes. Leaving it up to a handful<br />
of politicians to ensure that we will still<br />
have an intact environment in forty years‘<br />
time makes about as much sense as trying<br />
to solve a math equation by baking pie. Us<br />
consumers have to take the reins into our<br />
own hands and send clear signals to the corporations<br />
through our consumer behavior. The<br />
supply must not determine the demand.<br />
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY IN<br />
EVERYDAY LIFE<br />
If you ask around, it becomes clear that<br />
most of us want to be more environmentally<br />
conscious. But the possibilities of doing<br />
so are in some cases still very limited. It‘s<br />
particularly difficult with plastic. If you look<br />
at the shelves in supermarkets, it quickly<br />
becomes clear why. Except for a few apples<br />
and bananas, almost everything is packaged.<br />
Since the bio-plastic alternative is not a real<br />
alternative either, the question arises:<br />
