Members enjoy tracing their individual family trees and family histories. Branch activities include gathering and sharing genealogical information. “Through The Branches”, the once a year publication provides articles which assist in past and present family research. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month in the North Battleford Public Library from 7:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. (excluding May, June, July and August). Everyone is welcome! S9A 2X4 Phone - 306-445-5425 Battlefords Highland Dancing Association Any person interested in preserving and extending a knowledge of Scottish culture, especially through the various forms of Highland Dance, is invited to join the Highland Dance Association. The association, consisting of many of the parents of the dancers, sponsors an annual Robbie Burns Night usually held the 3rd weekend in January. The Highland Dancers often dance at local functions and entertain regularly at seniors’ homes and the Saskatchewan Hospital. They also take part in provincial competitions and workshops. The Association meets at Third Avenue United Church, North Battleford with lessons offered on Thursdays. Contact: Janet Custer - 445-0191 Battlefords Horseshoe Club League play is on Wednesday evenings between 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. You are on your own. Play as many games as you wish at any time. Take your holiday. No catch up games necessary. New players are given a handicap to equalize their games with those who have been playing for years. Age 65 Men, ladies and juniors pitch a distance of 30 feet. Men under 65 pitch 40 feet. We hold one sanction tournament a year. We also have one at the Exhibition grounds (Northwest Territorial Days). We host a wind-up in the fall for members only, which includes a supper, and award presentations are made. Membership fees are $20 for adults, $8 for juniors and under 10 are free. Anyone interested can be an associate member for a $2 fee. Battlefords Jazz Society Inc. The goals of the Society are to promote both the performance and education of Jazz and other musical styles in the Battlefords. We host at least four events annually where we bring in live musical entertainers in either a concert or cabaret style. We also assist in the education of Jazz through workshops and clinics. Annual membership fees are $10.00 per person and $15.00 for family.
