SaskTel Pioneers is a volunteer organization, promoting and participating
in activities that respond to community needs. The organization consists
of retired, working and previous employees of SaskTel. It also includes
spouses who also contribute a great deal to the organization.
Our focus is on education, environment and health. We participate in
such programs as Computers for Schools, Meals on Wheels, Relay for
Life, Phone Book recycling and environment projects, partnering with
several other organizations, as well as with SaskTel.
Through our education initiative in the last fi ve years, we have
provided funding for literacy programs in 30 schools in the North
Battleford District. We help fund projects and equipment at long term
care facilities such as River Heights Lodge and Villa Pascal. We also are
involved with the BUH Foundation providing free of charge telephone
service in two of the Palliative Care rooms at Battlefords Union Hospital.
We also take part in BUHF Festival of Trees running the Sweet Shop.
Blue Bird houses are made for the Wildlife Federation and for others
that request them. We have provided benches and bird feeders on
Finlayson Island and partner with the Battlefords Trade & Education
Centre in providing a vegetable garden for their soup program. As well
as maintaining and landscaping fl ower beds, as part of our commitment
to Communities in Bloom.

The Sons of Norway
Sons of Norway is a Fraternal Benefi t Society founded in 1895 in
Minneapolis. The objective was to unite in a fraternal organization
people of Norwegian birth, descent or affi liation.
Today Sons of Norway gives its members the opportunity to keep alive
their cherished memories, customs and culture of their homeland.
Some activities of the local lodge, Nisse 4-567: weekly get togethers
for bowling, golfi ng, Norwegian Whist.
Christmas party, shared events with Brubyen Lodge, Saskatoon.
Nisse Lodge meets the second Thursday in the evening in September,
November, January, March and May in the Lawn Bowling Club
House.

and support organization.
