Kiwanis Club of The <strong>Battlefords</strong><br />

While Kiwanis is international in scope, the Kiwanis Club of the<br />

<strong>Battlefords</strong> makes the needs of children in the <strong>Battlefords</strong> its fi rst<br />

priority.<br />

Club meetings are held every Monday noon, at Venice House<br />

Restaurant and offer an atmosphere of fun, learning and fellowship.<br />

Noon meetings generally consist of project updates followed by thoughtprovoking<br />

community speakers.<br />

The Kiwanis Club supports a wide range of community<br />

organizations and our service projects are often linked to the Kiwanis<br />

Program. “Young Children: Priority One,” but we address other<br />

needs within the community. Some community organizations<br />

and community needs that we have been able to assist are:<br />

KEY (Kiwanis Educates Youth) Club in John Paul II, Kiwanis<br />

Music Festival, Boys and Girls Club, <strong>Battlefords</strong> Union Hospital<br />

Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Kiwanis Novice Hockey Tournament,<br />

Finlayson Island Nature Trail, Cancer canvass and Relay for Life,<br />

walking trails, funding for the CUPlex project, plus numerous<br />

scholarships and sponsorships.<br />

Our major fund-raising activities include: Kiwanis Bicycle Auction,<br />

bingos and Kiwanis Skate Exchange.<br />

Knights of Columbus Council #2094<br />

Purpose or mission statement: The general purpose of our Council is<br />

one of charity. We raise funds for <strong>Community</strong> and National Charities.<br />

We are a fraternal organization based on faith.<br />

Meet monthly on the 3rd Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at Knights of<br />

Columbus Hall, 1202 - 105th Street.<br />

Knights of Columbus<br />

- District 15<br />

The Knights of Columbus (K of C) is an International Catholic, Family,<br />

Fraternal Service Organization of Catholic Men. District 15 is made up<br />

of fi ve Third-Degree councils in the North Battleford area. John Vany<br />

(445-5306). District Deputy in charge of these fi ve councils, with over 526<br />

members. The Knights of the area are proud to have among them two Past<br />

State Deputies. They are: Eugene Thera, and Mervyn Welter. We honour<br />

the memory of Past State Deputy, John Etcheverry who passed away in<br />

2003. For membership, contact the Grand Knight or Financial Secretary<br />

of any of the councils listed below. There is also one Assembly of Fourth<br />

Degree Knights of Columbus in the <strong>Battlefords</strong> area.<br />

North Battleford K of C Council No. 2094 is known as the “Mother<br />

Council” of the area. It was instituted on February 15, 1920. This Council<br />

now has over 160 members from Notre Dame and All Saints parishes in<br />

the city and includes members from Hafford and Mayfair as well as other<br />

parishes in Sask., Alberta, and B.C. Jeff Baldwin is Grand Knight. The<br />

Financial Secretary is Guy Binette (446-0196). Meetings are held at the K<br />

of C Centre, 1202 - 105 Street on the third Wednesday of the month. The<br />

council hosts a Sunday Brunch every 4th Sunday of the month.<br />

Pope John XXIII Council No. 5694 was instituted on April 22, 1965.<br />

The Council comprises of Vawn, Edam, Meota and Jackfi sh areas. Maurille<br />

Corbeil (397-5000) is the Grand Knight and Denis deMontanal (397-2513)<br />

is the Financial Secretary. 73 members. Meetings are held on the second<br />

Tuesday of each month.<br />

St. Joseph Calasanctius Council No. 7336 was chartered in 1979.<br />

Edouard J. Robert (445-4627) is the Grand Knight. Elwood Fuchs (445-<br />

4529) is the Financial Secretary. 136 members. Meetings are held on the third<br />

Wednesday of the month at K of C Club Room, 1952-98 St., North<br />

Battleford. The Council hosts a Sunday Brunch every 2nd Sunday of the<br />

month.<br />

Father Bigonesse Council No. 5626 located in the town of Battleford<br />

was formed in 1964. Is very active in the Catholic Parish of St. Vital and<br />

the Battleford community. Tom Sieben (446-2408) is Grand Knight. The<br />

Financial Secretary is Garret Francais (937-3180). 108 members. Meetings<br />

are held every fi rst Tuesday of each month. The Council hosts a Sunday<br />

Brunch every 1st Sunday of the month.<br />

Dr. Hamelin Council No. 5878 serves St. Andres parish in North<br />

Battleford and St. Jean Baptiste de la Salle at Delmas. The council was<br />

formed in 1965 to serve the francophone communities. This council takes<br />

an active part in all segments of charities. The Grand Knight is Claude<br />

Desnoyer (445-4049). The Financial Secretary is Martin Prince (446-3095).<br />

38 members. Meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month.<br />

The Dr. Uhrich Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly<br />

No. 1066 is the Patriotic Degree of the Knights of Columbus. The<br />

primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism<br />

for God and the country. The Fourth Degree members are strong<br />

supporters of the local Bishop and provide honorary guards on special<br />

occasions. At present, the Assembly has over 150 members in the<br />

north-west area of Saskatchewan. Sir Knight Mark Bonneau (445-0556)<br />

will serve as Faithful Navigator, and Sir Knight Glen Gantetoer (445-<br />

7619) will serve as Faithful Comptroller. Supper meetings beginning<br />

with Mass at 6 p.m. are held on the fourth Monday of each month.<br />

The ladies and widows of deceased members are invited to the Mass and<br />

supper.<br />
