Battlefords Registered Music
Teachers’ Association
Since its founding in 1948, the Battlefords branch of the
Saskatchewan Registered Music Teachers Association has been
actively concerned and involved in the provision of quality music
education. Active members of the association reside in Glenbush, Cut
Knife, Shellbrook, Spiritwood, Unity, Battleford, North Battleford and
surrounding rural areas.
The members frequently serve their communities as church organists,
accompanists, guest soloists, playing for weddings or funerals, as well
as teaching and preparing students for music festivals, examinations
and public recitals. At least one degree from a recognized educational
institution must be obtained before becoming a full member of the
association.
Because of affi liation with the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers
Association students of Registered Music Teachers have special
opportunities to achieve experience in music writing competitions
conducted nationally. Students who perform can take part in auditions
for the Young Artist Series. Winners of this competition will perform
a series of concerts on a tour which is hosted by the Registered Music
Teachers Association.
Canada Music Week Recital is to be held November 18, 2012 in
North Battleford, SK.

Battlefords Sailing Club

This club is one of the fi nest sailing club facilities in the province.
Built in 1985, the facility offers a large lounge area, fully equipped
kitchen, change rooms and indoor showers, offi ce and concession. The
clubhouse is available for rent on a daily basis at reasonable rates. The
clubhouse is located on a sandy beach, just east of Meota Regional Park
on the south shore of Jackfi sh Lake.
The club offers inter club sailing competition and also hosts
sailing lessons with the beginner class and advanced classes,
and offers kayak lessons with its newly acquired recreational
kayaks. This year’s regatta will be held July 28 and 29, sailing school
July 23 - 27 and is the major event sponsored by the club. The club has
an active membership and guests are always welcome.

Battlefords Senior Soccer
Association Inc.
The BSSA organizes outdoor soccer for men and women. They also
organize an indoor league for women and a men’s drop in night.
League play started in 1996.

Battlefords Skating Club
The Battlefords Skating Club is a great place for children of all ages to
come and learn how to skate. The club offers learn to skate for children
age 3 -5 years, CanSkate and StarSkate programs to skaters from the
Battlefords and surrounding areas.
The programs are offered Monday through Saturday at various rinks
in the Battlefords from September- March. Registration is held in late
August as well as throughout the season.

Battlefords Ukrainian Seniors
Society Branch No. 184
The Battlefords Ukrainian Seniors Society Branch No. 184 was fi rst
organized October 1977. The purpose was to get Ukrainian Canadians
together for recreation and socialization. Having no permanent home,
the basements of the two Ukrainian churches were put to use, alternating
every Wednesday for readings, cards, singing and general socializing.
In January 1980, we acquired the former band hall, started dismantling
on January 14, 1980 and in three days time had it moved to our present
