On a monthly, basis a volunteer Board of Directors meets to review policy and procedures and ensure an annual budget is complied with. BECIP fi rst opened its doors in 1982. BECIP provides services to families in the Battlefords, as well as outlying areas. Funding for this program is provided through the Ministry of Education, KidsFirst contracts, community donations and supported by the Battlefords United Way. The family home provides the child with a natural and supportive environment in which to learn. Parents and other family members are provided with information, training techniques and emotional support through individual home visits. Bi-monthly home visits are made to each family and Family Service Plans are developed specifi c to each child’s need. Various teaching methods are demonstrated by the Early Interventionist to assist the family in stimulating their child. The family is responsible for carrying out the suggested activities made by program staff. BECIP also offers a toy/resource lending library to families. BECIP also has supportive staff working with the Pre-Kindergarten programs and licensed child care facilities. Fax: 446-0575 Contact: Executive Director - Colleen Sabraw Phone - 446-4545 Battlefords Empty Stocking Fund Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre (Food Bank) The Empty Stocking Fund is a non-profit registered charity that exists in partnership with the community to provide emergency food from our food bank, Christmas hampers to those in need at Christmas, and other services with the aim of alleviating poverty in the Battlefords. Other programs include: Coats for Kids: the collection of winter clothing for children Milk for Kids: providing fresh milk to families with children Kids Backpack Program: giving food to elementary students from food insecure households Income Tax Preparation: free income tax service for low-income households Health Initiatives: working with community partners to improve the health of clients Plant a Row Grow a Row: encouraging gardeners in the community to grow a bit extra for the food bank We uphold the principles of integrity, justice, charity, compassion, and the dignity of human life.
