The <strong>Battlefords</strong> Scuba <strong>Community</strong> Inc.<br />

Pool sessions Sundays 11:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. at the Aquatic<br />
Centre from mid October through mid May. Executive meetings are<br />

Beta Sigma Phi<br />
Beta Sigma Phi is a non-academic international women’s friendship<br />
network which provides educational programs to its members and<br />
opportunities for service to others. Known around the world as “The<br />
Friendship Organization”, we are women of all ages, interests,<br />
educational and economic backgrounds, the largest organization of its<br />
kind in the world.<br />
Beta Sigma Phi chapters exist in every Canadian province, every<br />
American state, and in 30 other countries. Members in four chapters<br />
support the arts in and around the <strong>Battlefords</strong> and District.<br />
In the 81 years since its founding, membership in Beta Sigma Phi<br />
has provided opportunities to contribute to the community, to develop<br />
lifelong friendships, and to polish leadership skills. Now in the 21st<br />
Century, our members fi nd the more we grow, the more valuable we<br />
become to each other and to our communities.<br />

The Catholic Women’s<br />
League of Canada<br />
The Catholic Women’s League was organized nationally June 17,<br />
1920. It is the largest national organization of Catholic women in Canada<br />
and our motto is “For God and Canada.”<br />
The goals of the league are:<br />
• To achieve individual and collective spiritual development;<br />
• promote the teachings of the Catholic Church;<br />
• exemplify the Christian ideal in home and family life;<br />
• protect the sanctity of human life;<br />
• enhance the role of women in church and society;<br />
• recognize the human dignity of all people everywhere;<br />
• uphold & defend Christian education & values in the modern world;<br />
• contribute to the understanding and growth of religious freedom,<br />
social justice, peace and harmony.<br />
Meetings are held the fi rst Tuesday of each month from September<br />
to June in St. Joseph, Notre Dame and St. Vital.<br />

Citizens on Patrol Program (COPP)<br />
Volunteers work in conjunction with the <strong>Battlefords</strong> RCMP to serve as “eyes”<br />
and “ears” in the prevention of mischief and crime to make the <strong>Battlefords</strong> a<br />
secure place in which to live. Volunteers must be 19 years of age, pass an RCMP<br />
security check, have a valid driver’s licence, provide their own vehicle.<br />
Meetings are the fi rst Tuesday of the month at the RCMP Detachment at<br />
19:30 (7:30) p.m. Holiday months are July and August<br />
The C.O.P. Program is run by an elected board and an RCMP Liaison<br />
Offi cer.<br />
Pick up an application at the RCMP Detachment, 1052 - 101st Street,<br />
complete the application, return to the detachment. Upon passing a security<br />
check, you will be contacted by the RCMP or a COP Executive member.<br />
The Historic Battleford Lions Club<br />
Our club was chartered in 1976 and our Motto as Lions is “We Serve”.<br />
We provide an environment for fellowship and work together in<br />
support of local projects and events that help to make our community<br />
and environment a good place to be.<br />
Our fundraising efforts assist with local community activities as well<br />
as provide support for organizations that deal with such things as Sight,<br />
Diabetes, The Elderly, Youth, Culture, Sports and Recreation. We also<br />
participate in projects and events supported by Lions International and<br />
Lions Foundation of Canada.<br />
We hold supper meetings on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month<br />
starting at 6:30 PM with a recess from meetings for the months of July<br />
and August.<br />
