Opposites (speaking, learning vocabulary)<br />

Resources Picture cards that show opposites (big/small, long/short, etc.).<br />
Method<br />
Place the cards on the table, face up.<br />
Prompt the pupils to identify opposites by saying, <strong>for</strong> example, “Find something clean”, “Find<br />
something dirty or not clean”, etc.<br />
Point to two pictures containing clear opposites. Pupils name the objects <strong>and</strong> explain the opposites.<br />
What am I? (speaking – asking questions, revising vocabulary)<br />
Suitable <strong>for</strong> Young pupils <strong>and</strong> older pupils with low proficiency level.<br />
Resources Picture or word cards familiar to pupils. Head b<strong>and</strong>s <strong>for</strong> each pupil.<br />
Method<br />
Fix one card to the <strong>for</strong>ehead of every pupil without them seeing the picture/word.<br />
The pupils ask questions to find out ‘What am I?’<br />
Note! Older pupils can work in smaller groups at the same time. Encourage pupils with higher<br />
proficiency <strong>and</strong> more vocabulary to ask a variety of questions.<br />
Make a sentence (speaking)<br />
Suitable <strong>for</strong> Young pupils <strong>and</strong> older pupils with low proficiency level.<br />
Resources Any relevant picture cards <strong>for</strong> colouring.<br />
Method<br />
Pupils choose pictures <strong>and</strong> colour them in.<br />
Laminate the cards.<br />
Place the cards face down.<br />
Pupils take turns to pick a card <strong>and</strong> make a sentence about the picture.<br />
