After fome further difcourfe, and debate, he brought them<br />

at length to confent that if the Government <strong>of</strong> Plymouth<br />

would firmly ingage to them, That they, and all <strong>of</strong> them,<br />

and their Wives and Children, fJiotild have their Lives /pared,<br />

and none <strong>of</strong> them tranfported out <strong>of</strong> the Country, they would<br />

fubjecl themfelves to them, aiid ferve them in what they were<br />

able.<br />

<strong>The</strong>n Mr. Church told them, That he was well fatisfyed<br />

the Government <strong>of</strong> Plymouth would readily concur with<br />

what they prop<strong>of</strong>ed, and would fign their Articles: And<br />

complementing them upon it, how pleafed he was with<br />

the thoughts <strong>of</strong> their return, and <strong>of</strong> the former friendfhip<br />

that had been between them, &c.<br />

<strong>The</strong> chief Captain r<strong>of</strong>e up, and expreffed the great value<br />

and refpe6t he had for Mr. Church; and bowing to him<br />

faid, Sir, If youl pleafe to accept <strong>of</strong> me and my men, and<br />

will head us, we '/ fight for you, and will help you to Philips<br />

head before Indian Corn be ripe And when he had ended,<br />

they all exprefs'd their confent to what he faid, and told<br />

Mr. Church they loved him, and were willing to go with<br />

him and fight for him, as long as the Englifli had one<br />

Enemy left in the Country.<br />

Mr. Church affured them, That if they proved as good<br />

as their word, they mould find him their's and their Chil-<br />
