Captain being under a neceffity [39] to return that Night<br />

to the Army, came to an halt, told his Company, he mufl<br />

return to his other men. His Indians Souldiers moved for<br />

Capt. Church bad them go & pr<strong>of</strong>per, and made Light-foot<br />

their chief, 276 and gave him the title <strong>of</strong> Captain, Bid them<br />

go and quit themfelves like men. And away they fcam-<br />

pered like fo many Horfes. Next Morning 277 early they<br />

returned to their Captain, and informed him, That they<br />

had come tip with the Enemy, a7id kilPd feveral <strong>of</strong> them,<br />

and brought him Thirteen <strong>of</strong> them Prifoners ; were mighty<br />

proud <strong>of</strong> their Exploit, and rejoyced much at the oppor-<br />

Prifoners to Bridgwater, and fent out his Scouts to fee<br />

what Enemies or Tracks they could, difcovering fome<br />

fmall Tracks, he follows them, found where the Enemy<br />

had kindled fome fires, and roafted fome flefh, &c. but<br />

had put out their fires and were gone. <strong>The</strong> Captain fol-<br />

lowed them by the Track, putting his Indians in the Front;<br />

fome <strong>of</strong> which were fuch as he had newly taken from the<br />
