land at Saconet belonging to children <strong>of</strong> the late John<br />

Irifh;<br />

5 July [/did. 265], he was empowered, by fpecial<br />

order, to adminifter to John Irifh the oath to ferve as con-<br />

ftable at Saconet.<br />

8 March, 1 6 7 1 [P. C. R. vi: 7] he was re-appointed to<br />

be a magiftrate for Saconet and PocaJ/ct.<br />

4 March, 1679 [Briftol County (Mafs.) Deeds, ii: 144],<br />

he buys <strong>of</strong> Arthur Hathaway <strong>of</strong> Dartmouth, for £16, one<br />

fhare in Punkateajl neck, with one fhare <strong>of</strong> the Court grant<br />

<strong>of</strong> which faid neck was a part; fame date [Ibid, ii: 146], he<br />

buys a limilar fhare <strong>of</strong> Edward Gray <strong>of</strong> Plymouth, for £12.<br />

<strong>of</strong> Richard Wright, tailor, <strong>of</strong> New Plymouth, for 40^.<br />

Sometime before March <strong>of</strong> this year, with feven others<br />

came a purchafer <strong>of</strong> PocaJ/et lands, and agreed to endeavor<br />

the well fettling <strong>of</strong> a plantation there, and to " joine with<br />

Succonnitt Proprietors in the calling <strong>of</strong> a Gospell Mineter<br />

& for his incouragement as to his outward fubfiftence<br />

Nathaniel Thomas and William Pabodie, " to bound out<br />
