But the Carts muft now be guarded, and the opportunity<br />

<strong>of</strong> vifiting Tifpaquin muft now be laid afide: <strong>The</strong><br />

Carts are to be faithfully guarded, left Tifpaquid mould<br />

attack them.<br />

Coming towards Taunton, Capt. Church taking two<br />

Men with him, made all fpeed to the Town; and coming<br />

to the River fide, 228 he hollow'd, and inquiring <strong>of</strong> them that<br />

came to the River, for Maj. Bradford, or his Captains; he<br />

was inform'd, they were in the Town, at the Tavern. He<br />

told them <strong>of</strong> the Carts that were coming, that he had the<br />

cumber <strong>of</strong> guarding <strong>of</strong> them, which had already prevented<br />

his improving opportunities <strong>of</strong> doing Service. Pray'd<br />

therefore that a guard might be fent over to receive the<br />

Carts, that he might be at liberty; refufing all invitations<br />

and perfwafions, to go over to the Tavern, to vilit the<br />

others. In the fpring <strong>of</strong> 1676 he was the river for cr<strong>of</strong>fing a few rods above<br />

at the head <strong>of</strong> fome 300 men, and had the place where it receives Little<br />

a hand in the attempt to burn Scituate, River, and there connecting, as I am<br />

20 April, and Bridgewater, 8 May. informed, with what is now Summer<br />
