Gary Hicks Prepared For: Ontario Tire Stewardship Abstract: Client Reference No.: This report presents the results of an international survey on the use of rubber modified asphalt product specifications. Agencies surveyed included those in North America, China, and Scandinavia. Based on the survey responses, there is wide interest in using ground tire rubber in asphalt pavements. The objective of this report is to synthesize the specifications from different regions and to help identify the elements that may help the practices and specifications of Ontario, Canada. The specifications are summarized in the following order: Asphalt rubber binder Terminal blend rubber binder Rubberized hot mix asphalt including gap-graded and open-graded Terminal blend hot mix Asphalt rubber chip seals Asphalt rubber interlayer The report also includes recommendations to improve the specification for practices in Ontario, Canada.
