Im Sommer geht es noch einmal um die indische Malerei, Abd al-Samad, Farrukh Beg und Nainsukh, der Meister der Elefanten, geniessen auf dem Subkontinent ein ähnliches Ansehen wie Dürer oder Rembrandt bei uns. Zum Ende des Jahres wird es mystisch: Nicht so sehr Kunst, Stil und Ikonographie stehen im Vordergrund der Ausstellung «Mystik», sondern das spirituelle Erlebnis. The private collection owned by Konrad and Eva Seitz combines works from two of the most important centers for the production of Indian paintings from 1575 through 1850: the royal courts of the Mughal rulers and the ateliers in the more southerly Deccan region, an area that has hitherto received far less attention. This exhibition is preceded by a showing of precious ivories from Ceylon, before the summer sees a return to the theme of Indian paintings. On the subcontinent, Abd al-Samad, Farrukh Beg and Nainsukh (the «master of the elephants») enjoy the kind of reputation a Dürer or Rembrandt commands in our climes. A mystical twist follows at yearend: The «Mysticism» exhibition concerns itself less with art, style and iconography and more with spiritual experience. Danach geht es zurück in die Heimat: Verbunden mit einer Retrospektive seines Schaffens wird der schweizerische Künstler Franz Gertsch mit seinem brandneuen monumentalen Jahreszeiten-Zyklus vorgestellt. Aus der geheimnisumwitterten Sammlung der Familie Nahmad – die wohl grösste ihrer Art weltweit – werden erstmals mehr als hundert Meisterwerke von Monet bis Miro ins Licht einer Ausstellung gesetzt. Kunsthaus Zürich is poised to unearth a buried treasure: the Beuys collection from the Palazzo Durini in Abruzzi. The art museum then moves closer to home, linking a retrospective of Franz Gertsch’s work with a presentation of the Swiss artist’s monumental new «Four Seasons Cycle». Later, over a hundred masterpieces from Monet to Miró, all contributed by the almost mythical Nahmad Collection – possibly the largest of its kind anywhere in the world – will be shown for the first time.
