Wenn auf dem makellosen Rasen im Park
des Baur au Lac schweres Gerät auffährt,
dann ist es wieder so weit. Art in the Park
steht auf dem Programm. Zwei mal im Jahr organisiert
Gigi Kracht in Zusammenarbeit mit
ausgewählten Galerien diese Kunstschau.
Wie üblich stand das Frühjahr im Zeichen
grosser Namen, dieses Mal unter dem
Motto POP ART. Mel Ramos’ legendärer
Life Saver war da, Ronnie Cutrone schuf eigens
für diesen Anlass eine neue Skulptur.
Robert Indiana war mit seinen emblematischen
Zahlen vertreten, und der noch
junge Jani Leinonen bewies, dass
die Pop Art lebendiger ist denn je.
Im Herbst folgte dann Art in the
Park VI, im fallenden Herbstlaub bei
milden Temperaturen traf sich eine
illustre Gesellschaft zur Vernissage
der Werke von Olaf Breuning,
dem Shooting Star aus New York
mit Schweizer Wurzeln. Mit Unterstützung
der Galerie Nicola
von Senger und einem privaten Mäzen ermöglichte
Gigi Kracht es dem jungen Künstler,
seine Werke exklusiv für diesen Anlass
bei Schweizer Metallspezialisten anfertigen
zu lassen, und hier im Park des Baur
au Lac zum ersten Mal der Öffentlichkeit
vorzustellen.
Heavy goods vehicles backing onto the immaculate lawn
of the Baur au Lac park can only mean one thing: It is
«Art in the Park» time again! Twice a year, Gigi Kracht teams up
with selected galleries to organize this exclusive art exhibition.
As ever, big names were again prevalent at the 2010 spring
showing, the chosen theme this time around being pop art. Mel
Ramos’ legendary «Life Saver» was there. Ronnie Cutrone crafted
a new sculpture specially for this exhibition. Robert Indiana’s
emblematic numbers were likewise on display. And the youthful
Jani Leinonen demonstrated that pop art is still very much alive
and kicking.
«Art in the Park VI» followed in the fall, with an illustrious
audience gathering to enjoy mild temperatures, falling leaves
and a private viewing of works by Olaf Breuning,
the Swiss-born shooting star from New
York. Supported by the Gallery
Nicola von Senger and
a private art enthusiast,
Gigi Kracht
made it possible
for the young
artist to have his
works made to order
specially for this
occasion by Swiss
metalworking specialists
and unveiled to the
public for the first time
here in the park of the
Hotel Baur au Lac.
