THE YEAR 2012 marks the opening of<br />
Germany’s new Berlin Brandenburg Airport<br />
(BER), which is set to be the most advanced<br />
airport in Europe. Its proximity to central<br />
Berlin, its excellent connections to major<br />
regional and international transport routes<br />
and its enviable location in the centre of<br />
Europe are the airport’s trademark features.<br />
The Berlin Brandenburg Airport is destined<br />
to be a pivotal traffi c hub for Central and<br />

The new airport will connect the Berlin<br />
Brandenburg region with the world’s major<br />
cities, and offers ideal travel conditions for<br />
companies, business travelers and tourists.<br />
A special freeway interchange, a high-speed<br />
train station beneath the new terminal and<br />
short paths to connecting fl ights ensure<br />
convenient arrivals and departures.<br />
The terminals’ ‘Airport City’ includes<br />

hotels with direct access to the boarding gates.<br />
The airport’s initial capacity will be more<br />
than 27million passengers per year. Two<br />
parallel runways 3,600 and 4,000 meters in<br />
length can accommodate the Airbus A380<br />
and the Boeing Dreamliner.<br />

As many as 34 industrial parks with high<br />
potential for development are available in the<br />
vicinity of BER airport. Their proximity to both<br />
the airport and downtown Berlin – combined<br />
with excellent regional infrastructure – affords<br />

the Berlin Brandenburg region also boasts the<br />
