AN OVERVIEW
TENT MATERIALS AND FABRICS
POLES
DAC COMBINATION, 7001 T6 Aluminium: We developed the poles for our REAL
TUNNEL tents together with the aluminium tent pole specialists at DAC. Their
particular feature is the use of variable diameter sections that slot seamlessly
inside one another. The middle (roof) section of the pole is thinner, in order
to save weight. The poles get thicker towards the ends, as side wind stability
is particularly relevant to tunnel tents.
DAC REVERSE COMBI: We collaborated with the aluminium specialists at DAC
to develop this pole for our REAL DOME tents. Its special feature is the use of
different diameter pole sections. The pole is thicker at the roof than at the
groundsheet and describes a steeper angle to the ground than on conven -
tional dome tents. This ensures that the tent remains flexible in high winds,
retains its shape longer and is better able to withstand the forces exerted on
the roof.
DAC FEATHERLITE NSL: We use this premium-quality, ultra-light aluminium pole
on our high-performance SILICONE tents as it offers outstanding strength-toweight
performance. To achieve the required strength and flexibility, two
different diameter sections are seamlessly connected. The ultra-lightweight
connector pieces are reinforced to provide an incredibly strong connection.
DAC DA 17-Aluminium: Some of the poles on our FAMILY tents have an ex -
treme ly large diameter. The aluminium alloy used is flexible, strong and
relatively light. The diameter (14.5 mm to 19 mm), depends on the weight and
size of the tent model in question.
STRONGHOLD STEEL: This robust and extremely strong galvanized Q 195 steel
is used for the poles on some of our FAMILY tents. The pre-formed segments
are extremely strong and weather resistant.
PROWRAP FIBREGLASS: These robust fibreglass rods are used for the poles on
our entry-level tent, the ECLIPSE, and our beach shelters.
FLYSHEET FABRICS:
POLYESTER 75D: This flysheet fabric stretches very little when wet and is very
light, strong and UV resistant. It has a durable PU coating that guarantees
excellent waterproofing (hydrostatic head: 4,000 mm in new condition). The
outside is given a special fabric treatment that makes it particularly fast drying.
SILICONE HT NYLON RIPSTOP 40D: A lightweight (57 g/m 2 ) flysheet fabric,
designed for extreme use. The tough 40D High Tenacity Nylon ripstop fabric
has a double silicon coating on each side. The fabric is durably waterproof and
has outstanding tensile strength (50 kg in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1421)
and tear strength (16.3 kg in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13937-4).
INNER TENT FABRICS:
POLYESTER 68D BREATHABLE: This soft, breathable and fast drying fabric is used
as standard for our inner tents.
NYLON RIPSTOP 40D BREATHABLE: Weighing just 50 g/m 2 this dense weave
polyamide fabric incorporates a matrix of ripstop threads. It provides an ideal
combination of weight, durability, water repellence and breathability.
MOSQUITO MESH 20D/40D: This fine, close-meshed mosquito net is light, resist -
ant to distortion and very robust. It not only ensures good ventilation, but
keeps even the tiniest midges at bay.
GROUNDSHEET FABRICS:
HYDROFILM POLYESTER 150D/210D: An abrasion resistant and waterproof
coated polyester fabric for tent floors (hydrostatic head: 10,000 mm in new
condition). The lighter 150D version is our standard groundsheet material and
is also used for the FLOORSAVER. The heavier, almost indestructible 210D
version is used for our FAMILY tents.
HYDROFILM NYLON 70D: At 90 g/m 2 , this is our lightest HYDROFILM ground -
sheet fabric. The flexible coating and super-dense weave (210T) renders the
polyamide fabric incredibly robust and durably waterproof. The ideal ground -
sheet fabric for lightweight, extreme-use tents.
Additional protection – the FLOORSAVER:
The FLOORSAVER is a waterproof coated, abrasion-resistant tarp that helps
prevent premature wear and tear on the groundsheet and improves its water -
proof spec. Some of our trekking tents are equipped with a FLOOR SAVER for
the vestibule of the tent. Our family tents are equipped with a FLOORSAVER
that covers the entire footprint of the tent. The corresponding FLOORSAVER
is available separately for all other models in our tent range.
