GLOSSARYEQUIPMENT
ANATOMICALLY DESIGNED CARRY SYSTEM:
Our X-TRANSITION carry system (see page 268) is available in different versions for
men and women. They differ as follows:
MEN WOMEN
AIR CORE foam: This open pored foam material is
used inside our WOLFMATs. It traps plenty of air for
insulation and provides outstanding cushioning. We
use two grades of this foam: the one used in our
ultra-lightweight mats weighs 13 kg/m³, while the
foam used for our more comfortable four-season
mats has a weight of 16kg/m³.
ALUMINIUM HONEY COMB: Hollow aluminium
rods in a cross configuration, used in our rucksack
carry systems to save weight while retaining the de -
sired shape.
ARMATECH PLUS 600D: An abrasion resistant
fabric made from textured (crinkled) polyester yarns.
This fabric is so versatile that we use it for numerous
different products, from rucksacks to travel bags and
accessories. The reverse side benefits from a durably
waterproof polyurethane coating and the fabric is
also colourfast and UV resistant.
Autolock zips: A special zip used on sleeping bags,
which locks automatically to prevent involun tary open -
ing while you are asleep.
BALLISTIC 1680D: An incredibly tough, heavy duty
nylon fabric, used mainly on the bases of our bags
and rucksacks.
CHAINTEC 420D/1000D: A very densely woven
(and thus very abrasion resistant) 550 denier poly -
amide fabric with a waterproof PU coating, used on
the bases of our rucksacks.
CORE HOLES: These horizontal bore holes in the
foam core of the WOLFMAT reduce the weight of
the mat by around 20 % with no adverse effect on
the insulation performance.
CORNER EDGES
Vertical stabilizer struts located
at the corners of the tent for
improved wind stability, in -
creased internal space and
easier pitching.
CROSSLINK PE: A special crosslink polyethylene
material with high tensile strength and durability,
used as a back plate in our ACS TIGHT bike pack
carry system. The back plate stops hard items press -
ing through without restricting freedom of move -
ment. Ventilation openings prevent the build up of
warm, moist air in the contact area.
CROSS RIP 100D: An extremely light HIGH TE -
NACITY polyamide fabric used in our lightweight
ruck sacks, which provides good durability at a low
weight. A matrix of ripstop reinforcement threads
gives the fabric a high tensile strength and tear resist -
ance.
CROSS RIP 300D: This lightweight and tough
polyester rucksack fabric is inter-woven with ripstop
reinforcement threads every 3 millimetres. If the fabric
tears, the rip does not continue through the fabric
but is stopped by these stronger threads, hence the
name: ripstop.
Shoulder straps for WOMEN:

· narrower curve
· outward curve
Differential cut: This special sleeping bag design
makes the bag that little bit warmer. The outer shell
is larger than the inner, which prevents localised heat
loss through so-called “cold bridging” and allows the
fill to achieve its full loft.
ESKIMO HOOD: An ergonomic, contour shaped
sleeping bag hood that adapts perfectly to the head
and keeps the cold out. The EASY ADJUST SYSTEM
allows simple, one-handed adjustment of the hood.
The two drawcords are colour coded; they are also
textured to help tell them apart in the dark.
FAST PITCH TECHNOLOGY: Tents equipped
with FAST PITCH TECHNOLOGY are faster and easier
to pitch. (see below)
MEGA PU RIP: This very tough and extremely water -
proof 100D fabric is coated on both sides, similar to
a truck tarp. It is the ideal heavy duty fabric for travel
luggage, courier bags and daypacks.
MICROFIBER SUEDE: A lightweight, extremely
absorbent and fast drying cloth with a relatively
smooth surface. The capillary power of the micro -
fibres give the cloth its superb absorbent perfor -
mance. Used to make trekking towels.
MICROFIBER TERRY: A lightweight, extremely
absorbent and fast drying cloth with a towelling-like
surface. The capillary power of the microfibres give
the cloth its extremely high absorbent performance.
Used to make trekking towels.
MICROFIBRE ULTRA: An extremely light and
packable towel fabric with a high capillary effect that
makes it extremely absorbent.
NAILHEAD 420D: A light and very hard wearing
nylon fabric, used for rucksacks, bags, etc. The fabric
has prominent projections on the surface, which
resemble nail heads. The advantage is that abrasion
does not occur across the fabric but is limited to the
peripheral areas. NAILHEAD is used in different thread
strengths (deniers) for the main and base sections of
a rucksack, or depending on what the rucksack is
designed to be used for.
NYLON RIPSTOP 40D BREATHABLE: This poly -
amide inner tent fabric delivers the ideal combination
of weight, durability, water repellent “pearl-off” per -
formance and breathability. The fabric weighs just
50g/m 2 and incorporates a matrix of ripstop threads
which give it a very high tearstrength.
RIPSTOP 70D: A lightweight, 70 denier fabric with
a matrix of ripstop threads for increased tear -
strength. The fabric is used for wallets, purses, etc.
SNUGGLE UP
SNUGGLE UP AIR
This carry system for daypacks,
book packs and office packs
has been used and trusted since
20 years. The key attrib ute of
the system is the wide shoulder
yoke, which distrib utes the load
evenly. The back of the pack is
fully padded to prevent hard
items pressing through and the
system also in cludes a detach able
waist strap.
This version of the SNUGGLE
UP carry system incorporates a
central “chimney effect” venti -
lation duct, which provides ex -
cellent climate comfort.

STRIP DOWN: In order to achieve better com -
parability between tents on the market, starting
Sum mer 2012 we will give two different figures for
the weights of our tents:
1. The maximum weight, including all the accessories
and as delivered in the original packing
2. The STRIP DOWN weight, which includes every -
thing you need to pitch the tent (tent, poles and
the minimum amount of pegs)
TRAPEZOID foot section: The slanted, trapezoid
shape sleeping bag foot section allows the feet to
assume an anatomically correct position.
WATERLOCK 210D: A light, finely woven poly -
amide fabric with an extra thick waterproof coating
(10,000 mm PU), used for bags and rucksacks.
FAST PITCH TECHNOLOGY
Tents with this technology can be pitched extra
quickly and simply; in addition, they have an all
round higher stability.
