GLOSSARYAPPAREL
BASIC HOOD: Our standard-issue detach -
able hood is anatomically cut and allows free -
dom of movement for the head. The volume
and field of vision are fully adjustable. It is
attached to the collar by buttons or zip and
features an integrated storm peak.
BASIC HOOD IN COLLAR: This version of
our BASIC HOOD has an integrated storm
peak and is attached to the outside of the
collar. It remains stowed in the collar until
needed. Once rolled out, the volume and field
of vision can be adjusted normally.
COMFORT HOOD: Unlike a hood that rolls
up into the collar of the jacket, this hood can
be rolled up into itself, thus saving con sid er -
able space. It is permanently attached to the
jacket and features an integrated, rein forced
storm peak. With adjustable volume and field
of vision.
MAGIC PRINT MICROFIBER: The special feature
of this water repellent, very lightweight, soft and
silky microfibre fabric is the MAGIC PRINT, a special
pattern that appears when the fabric becomes wet
and disappears when it dries.
MESH Q.M.C.: A mesh fabric with active moisture
management properties used as a lining on the back
yokes of our shirts and blouses. It wicks sweat rap -
idly to the outer surface, where it can evaporate
effectively.
MICRO SCOPE DWR: A thin, virtually windproof,
lightweight softshell fabric made from extremely
tightly woven microfibres. The double sided ripstop
fabric is water repellent and has a brushed reverse
side that provides light insulation.

NATURE JERSEY HEATHER Q.M.C.: A func -
tional T-shirt fabric consisting of certified organic
cotton and Q.M.C. (Quick Moisture Control) poly -
ester fibres for active moisture management and
rapid drying performance. Functional T-shirts or base
layers made of this fabric provide the comfort of
cotton and the functionality of synthetic fibres. The
mottled effect gives the fabric a natural look.
NATURE PIQUE Q.M.C.: This functional, easycare
hybrid fabric is made from Q.M.C. polyester and
certified organic cotton. It has moisture-regulating
properties and the look and feel of a classic cotton
polo shirt fabric. The Q.M.C. fibres provide rapid
moisture transport and a nice dry feel on the skin.
NYLON CANVAS DWR: This exceptionally hardwearing,
cotton-like polyamide fabric made of 500D
yarns is water repellent, dirt resistant and fast drying.
NYLON FULL STRETCH DWR: A lightweight,
dual stretch, nylon fabric with a wind resistant and
water repellent spec. The 11 % elastane content pro -
vides 25% lengthwise stretch and 25% cross stretch.
The high UV protection factor (UPF 30+; meets the
AS/NZS 4399: 1996 standard) is intrinsic to the fabric.
NYLON STRETCH: This fabric has an 8 % elastane
content, is extremely hard-wearing and delivers good
freedom of movement.
NYLON STRETCH UV Q.M.C.: A lightweight, very
robust shirt fabric with outstanding UV protec tion
(UPF 40+; meets the AS/NZS 4399: 1996 stand ard)
and active stretch properties (35% cross stretch). It is
also fast drying and easy care. A new low-tem per a -
ture dyeing process is used that saves up to 20 %
more energy than other nylon fabrics. Compared to
conventional Q.M.C. check fabrics 50-70% more en ergy
is saved as only one dyeing process is re quired to pro -
duce the tricolour check pattern. Weight: 122g/m 2 .
DYNAMIC SUMMIT HOOD: In addition
to the benefits provided by the standard
SUMMIT HOOD (see below), the detachable
DYNAMIC SUMMIT HOOD features an elasti -
cated neck to facilitate a wider range of head
movements.
HELMET SUMMIT HOOD: This detach -
able hood has more volume and can be at -
tached to the collar at two different heights
to accommodate a climbing helmet whilst still
ensuring sufficient freedom of movement for
the head. It features a reinforced peak and the
volume, height and field of vision can all be
ad justed.
INTEGRAL SUMMIT HOOD: This version
of the standard SUMMIT HOOD (see below) is
permanently attached to the jacket. In all other
respects, it is identical to the SUMMIT HOOD.
The volume and field of vision can be ad jus ted
with one hand. The storm peak is reinforced.
KIDS BASIC HOOD (fixed): This hood is
per manently attached to the jacket. Apart
from that, it shares the same features as the
de tachable BASIC HOOD.
ORGANIC COTTON CANVAS: A very hard wear -
ing canvas structure fabric made of certified organic
cotton.
ORGANIC COTTON LIGHT SINGLE JERSEY:
A very lightweight jersey fabric made of certified
organic cotton. It has active stretch properties, a soft
texture and excellent shape retention. We use this
fabric for our cotton T-shirts.
ORGANIC COTTON PIQUE: Classic cotton with a
piqué structure, made of certified organic cotton.
ORGANIC COTTON SINGLE JERSEY: A single
jersey fabric made of certified organic cotton. It has
active stretch properties, a soft texture and excellent
shape retention. We use this fabric for our cotton Tshirts.
ORGANIC COTTON STRETCH SINGLE JERSEY:
The 3 % elastane content gives this jersey fabric its
mechanical stretch properties. The certified organic
cotton is soft to the touch yet has excellent shape
retention, which allows greater freedom of move -
ment.
ORGANIC COTTON TWILL: This hard wearing
fabric is made of certified organic cotton and is used,
for instance, for our cotton headgear.
OVERLAY TAPE: An extremely abrasion resistant
polyurethane material. It is used to reinforce critical
wear points, such as pocket edges and the external
pockets laminated onto weatherproof jackets, soft -
shells and pants. Readily accepts an external tape
seam seal.
OXFORD NYLON 400D: A very hard wearing and
abrasion resistant polyamide fabric made of 400 de -
nier yarns. We use it, for instance, to reinforce crit i -
cal wear points on our pants (the knees, waist band
or lower leg).
PIQUE Q.M.C.: The special structure of the Q.M.C.
fibres in this piqué fabric quickly transports sweat to
the outside, where it evaporates. This prevents the
body from overcooling. The classic piqué structure
made famous by polo shorts reduces the amount of
contact surface. As a result the fabric does not stick
to the skin.
POLYESTER MICROFIBER: A very lightweight, soft
and silky fabric or knitwear made of fine polyester
yarns. It comes in many different versions and is used,
for instance, to make our versatile HEADGEAR and
light hoods, due to its soft texture and its rapid dry -
ing performance.
REGULAR FIT (shirts): The standard, casual cut.
KIDS ULTRA LIGHT HOOD: This fixed hood
with integrated storm peak is often used on
our lighter children’s jackets. It pro vides better
weather protection than a detachable hood.
With adjustable volume and field of vision.
LIGHT HOOD IN COLLAR: This thin, light -
weight hood stores in the collar, protects against
wind and drizzle and features an adjustable
field of vision.
SUMMIT HOOD: This is the hood used on
most of our alpine and trekking jackets. It is
detachable and offers exceptional protection
and a wide field of vision, thanks to its ana -
tomic shape. The volume and field of vision
can be adjusted with just one hand. The peak
is reinforced.
ULTRA LIGHT HOOD: This fixed hood with
integrated storm peak is often used on our
lighter jackets. It provides better weather pro -
tection than a detachable hood. With adjust -
able volume and field of vision.

SUMMIT HOOD
REGULAR FIT (pants): A classic, straight leg cut
of fer ing very good freedom of movement. It is suit -
able for all types of fabric and for classic outdoor
activities such as mountaineering, trekking, hiking
and travel.
REGULAR WAIST (pants): The waist band sits
just below the navel at the front and is slightly raised
at the back. This design offers protection and free -
dom of movement for classic outdoor activities such
as mountaineering, trekking, hiking and travel.
REGULAR SYSTEM ZIP: This system zip is incor -
porated in our regular and longer cut system jackets
to seamlessly combine a weatherproof TEXAPORE
shell jacket or softshell with an insulating inner
jacket. The front zip of the inner jacket docks with
the second zip on the shell jacket; attachment loops
in the sleeves and at the neck prevent the jacket from
slipping. The system zip has remained un changed for
ten years and will stay that way in the future. This
means that you will continue to be able to combine
new jackets with older models.
SECRET POCKET: The SECRET POCKET is a stand -
ard feature in many of our jackets. Accessible from
the outside, this inside pocket is called the SECRET
POCKET because it is cleverly concealed. The open -
ing is at chest height and is protected from the weather
and concealed behind the front zip flap.
SHADOW CROSS Q.M.C.: This very lightweight
and airy polyester fabric has Q.M.C. (Quick Moisture
Control) fibres. The special structure of the fibres
draws moisture away from the body to evaporate on
the outside. This prevents the wearer from over -
cooling. We use this fabric, for in stance, to make our
travel apparel.
SHORT SYSTEM ZIP: This system zip is incorpo -
rated in our shorter length system jackets to seam -
lessly combine a weather proof TEXAPORE shell
jacket or softshell with an insulating inner jacket. The

STORM COLLAR: The extra high storm collar pro -
tects the face right up to the nose. The hood is draw -
cord adjustable and stretch inserts provide plenty of
room for other layers of clothing, e.g. a scarf, bala -
clava etc.
