Chapter Six is entitled “In the Face of the ‘Known’ and ‘Unknown’”. Coordinators’<br />

midwifery knowledge is a combination of their clinical knowing and their instinctive<br />

knowing, however they are working within a paradigm of institutional heirarchies and a<br />

medical technological framework of care where they are charged by their professional<br />

body to uphold a partnership model of care and a continuity model of care. Within this<br />

chapter there are six sub-sections which are entitled: Knowing People’s Practice, Getting<br />

the Skill Mix Right, Behind Closed Doors, How Much Longer Shall I Wait?, When<br />

There is Nothing Left and Woman Focused, Midwifery Led Care.<br />

Chapter Seven is my discussion chapter where I draw my findings together and attempt to<br />

shed light on the experiences coordinators have revealed for this study. I bring the parts<br />

together to become a whole and relate the findings of this study to its limitations and its<br />

implications for practice, ongoing education and further research. I conclude with<br />

discussion of the essence of my findings within this study.<br />
