The <strong>Deerfield</strong> Park District has 20 beautiful park sites for residents<br />
to enjoy. The main Jewett Park <strong>Community</strong> Center features<br />
dance and art studios, kitchen/cooking facilities, indoor Treehouse<br />
playground, a September through May Preschool Program for<br />
children 2.5 through 5 years of age, room/space rentals and more.<br />
The 100,000 square foot Sachs Recreation Center features 3<br />
gyms, tennis and racquetball courts, indoor swimming pool, rental<br />
and party facilities, and a café. The Center also offers a separate<br />
fitness membership with options for child care.<br />
The Patty Turner Center is nationally accredited and offers<br />
enrichment for adults 50 years of age and up. The Patty Turner<br />
Center is a program of the <strong>Deerfield</strong> Park District in partnership<br />
with the Village of <strong>Deerfield</strong>. Room rentals and banquet facilities<br />
available for adult events.<br />
The <strong>Deerfield</strong> Golf Club and Learning Center boasts a beautiful<br />
18-hole, 155-acre course offering tee-times, all types of leagues,<br />
outings, and lessons, as well as a recently renovated clubhouse<br />
available for banquets and rentals.<br />
The district is run by a board of five commissioners who serve<br />
without compensation for four-year elected terms of office. Current<br />
commissioners are: Gil Antokal, Jan Caron, Joe Cohen, Greg Lapin<br />
and Rick Patinkin. Rick Julison is the Executive Director of Parks<br />
and Recreation.<br />

The Board of Commissioners meets the third Thursday of every<br />
month at 8 p.m. at the Jewett Park <strong>Community</strong> Center, 836 Jewett<br />
Park Drive. Visitors are always welcome.<br />
The district provides year-round recreation programs for residents<br />
of all ages. Program brochures are sent out three times a year<br />
describing fall programs, winter and day camp activities, and<br />
spring/summer programs. A wide variety of special events, trips,<br />
and community-wide activities are offered including a family “Deer<br />
Dash,” an Art Show, Tinman Triathlon, Halloween Hoopla and much<br />
more.<br />
The Board of Park Commissioners recognizes the need to provide<br />
and maintain sufficient and attractive parks, recreation facilities and<br />
programs to serve equitably, and without prejudice, all the people<br />
of the Park District in the provision of leisure time activities.<br />
From pre-school activities to senior programs and events, from<br />
ballet to baseball, social dancing to soccer, cooking to swimming,<br />
the <strong>Deerfield</strong> Park District is your recreation headquarters.<br />
The <strong>Deerfield</strong> Park Foundation helps promote and develop recreation<br />
facilities and services in the <strong>Deerfield</strong> Park District by operating<br />
fundraising events and soliciting tax-deductible contributions.<br />
Major focuses for <strong>2011</strong>: 1.) Recycling Containers for parks; 2.) Thor<br />
Guard Lightning Prediction System upgrades, 3.) Grants-in-Aid<br />
(scholarships) / Be A Dear of the Park Foundation; 4.) <strong>Community</strong><br />
Services Day Entertainment Sponsor; Upcoming Events: Park &<br />
Education Golf Outing, Moonlight Golf, and Helicopter Ball Drop.<br />
