UNIT 7/OBJECTIVE #2 Specific Objective #2: Evaluating the training consultant following training. CONTENT: mEThODOlOgy: What Makes a Good Technical Trainer? There are certain competencies a good technical trainer should have. Observe the training and determine whether the trainer met the following standards: N Analyzed and understood the course materials, N Learned about the trainees, N Assured preparation of the instructional site, N Established and maintained instructor credibility, N Managed the learning environment, N Demonstrated effective communication skills, N Demonstrated effective presentation skills, N Demonstrated effective questioning skills and techniques, N Responded appropriately to learners’ needs for clarification or feedback, N Provided positive reinforcement, N Used instructional methods appropriately, N Used media effectively, N Evaluated Px performance and the delivery of training, and N Provided a comprehensive training report Group Discussion (30 min.): The trainer should: N Ask Px to reflect on how they evaluate themselves or their peers during a training course and then volunteer standards they feel are important in evaluating training consultants. N Write their responses on a flipchart and complete any information that may have been omitted.
