APPENDIX: MARYLAND CODE <strong>OF</strong> C<strong>ON</strong>DUCT<br />

FOR COURT INTERPRETERS<br />

AMEND Canon 11 of the <strong>Maryland</strong> Code of Conduct for Court<br />

Interpreters to delete language pertaining to a hearing, to<br />

allow an interpreter a reasonable opportunity to respond<br />

following a notification that the Administrative Office of the<br />

Courts intends to remove the interpreter from the list of court<br />

interpreters, to delete language pertaining to good cause, to<br />

delete references to disciplinary action other than removal from<br />

the list, and to delete the Commentary to the Canon, as follows:<br />

Canon 11<br />

Compliance<br />

After notice and an a reasonable opportunity for a hearing<br />

to respond, the Administrative Office of the Courts may<br />

discipline remove an interpreter, by actions such as public or<br />

private reprimand or suspension or removal from a list of court<br />

interpreters, for inadequate performance or other good cause from<br />

the list of court interpreters.<br />

Commentary<br />

The following are examples of good cause for disciplining an<br />

interpreter:<br />
